About the job

Do you want to help create coherence and quality when many interests must be accommodated in the cities and in the open countryside? Then this position in the Planning Department of Middelfart Municipality might be something for you.

In the Planning Group in Middelfart Municipality we combine high professional ambitions with an informal tone and a strong collegial community. We value flexibility and well-being in everyday life as well as engagement, collaboration and humor.

The strong professional and collegial community is an important foundation for our work. Middelfart Municipality is growing, and we have ambitious goals for how the municipality should develop. Several large urban development projects are on the way, we are working on several renewable energy projects and local plans at the same time while we have a strong focus on safeguarding our cultural heritage.

Therefore we are looking for a professionally strong and engaged urban planner with knowledge of local planning and who is passionate about the development of the built environment, the green transition, and for dialogue and involvement of the municipality's citizens.

The Planning Group leads many of the municipality's development initiatives, and you will thus have good opportunities to leave your mark on Middelfart's development. Local planning will be the central focus of your work, and you will follow the entire local plan process from the initial discussions to the final adoption.

In daily work you will collaborate closely with colleagues in the department, other areas of the municipality, as well as citizens and external actors. You will have responsibility and freedom to drive your own cases forward – with ongoing support and professional sparring from good colleagues. You will become part of a team that works closely together to create sustainable and well-functioning frameworks for residents – both today and in the future.

We offer

You will join the Planning Department together with 10 colleagues, where as a workplace and colleagues we offer you:

  • a professionally strong collegial culture, where we are passionate about creating quality in architecture and urban development
  • high ambitions for climate and sustainable urban development
  • collegial sparring and support in task execution
  • challenging tasks with different types of local plans
  • an informal tone and high spirits in daily work.

Your professional and personal profile

Education

  • You have a relevant degree in physical planning and solid knowledge of the Planning Act and environmental assessment area.

Professional competencies

  • You are eager for a daily life where the preparation of local plans and municipal plan amendments with accompanying environmental screenings and environmental reports constitute your primary task. Depending on your professional interests, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the department's other tasks.
  • You are good at delivering results through negotiation, cooperation and dialogue with investors, developers and citizens
  • You are a skilled project manager who can create progress in larger and often complex projects with many stakeholders, and who with a holistic approach collaborates with your professional colleagues across the organization.
  • You are willing to steer planning processes from the initial dialog to a final plan, and you master the constructive dialogue with citizens, developers and stakeholders in all phases of the planning process.

Personal competencies

  • You are professionally curious, ambitious and thrive on working with complex problems.
  • You are able to participate in a professional and social community and contribute to the good working environment in the Planning Group
  • You recognize the premise that planning is an interdisciplinary discipline and the art of compromise, and that we only reach our goals when we work together as a team.
  • You are keen to contribute to finding solutions, even when it is complex and challenging. You are curious and want to learn from others' experiences and to share your own experiences.
  • You are good at communicating in writing and orally in Danish, and if you have knowledge of working in a politically governed organization it can be an advantage.

Does this sound like something for you? Then we look forward to hearing from you.
