Infrastructure Specialist for Project Development

Do you want to play a central role in the development of Birch Properties' projects, when everything from infrastructure, drainage and soil conditions must work together in a single project? Do you want real influence on the projects' buildability and financial robustness – from idea development to finished construction?

At Birch Properties you will have a central role close to the projects, the management and the entire value chain – from land purchase to execution and sale. You bring your infrastructure technical competencies into play when you hold the client responsibility for the infrastructure projects in connection with our new builds.

This includes, among other things, foundation conditions, roads and infrastructure, sewerage projects, supply conditions, rainwater management (LAR) and soil contamination, as well as client supervision on the projects. You will be responsible for ensuring progress and creating a solid decision basis in the most important early phases of the projects, in an organization characterized by short decision paths and a strong desire for development.

You report to the team leader of the construction development team and join a small, specialized team in Silkeborg, where you typically have 2-4 projects in progress in parallel.

Your main areas of responsibility will be to

• Contribute to screening land for buildability and economics when Birch considers a purchase
• Ensure robust estimates and budgets in the due diligence phase
• Review and quality assure against the approved budget
• Drive dialogue with consultancies and authorities throughout the design process
• Ensure coherence between consultants' deliverables and project requirements – you do not draw yourself and do not take soil samples yourself, but you use and quality assure the results
• Create alignment between project development and the subsequent execution
• Follow selected technical aspects further into the construction phase, e.g. contamination and soil volumes
• Advise colleagues across departments on infrastructure and construction development considerations

Experienced infrastructure profile with impact

You preferably have an infrastructure technical or engineering background – the education matters less than the experience you have built. We imagine that you have solid practical experience from the field, and you can certainly have many years as an advisor, preferably combined with a few years as a contractor. There are many paths into the position, but the most important is that you continue to burn to develop professionally.

We are seeking a specialist, but we also seek someone with field experience. You thrive with a broad range of contacts to, among others, consultants, authorities, utility companies and contractors, when you manage dialogue, participate in design meetings or negotiate construction development agreements. You can dive into technical details and keep an overview when several projects run simultaneously, and you perform best in a role where technical weight weighs at least as much as the ability to communicate and drive progress through others.
