About the job

Are you passionate about creating strong children's communities where more children can participate and succeed? And are you motivated by being close to the pedagogical practice and ensuring that professional efforts are translated into action and followed through to the end?

Then you can be our new department head at Blomsten Nursery and Kindergarten.

We are seeking a proactive and practice-oriented department head who will have a special responsibility to run and develop our work as a growth institution and coordinate the initiatives around children in vulnerable positions.

You will become part of Blomsten's management team and have an important role in creating coherence and progress in the pedagogical work – close to children, staff, parents and partners.

An leadership team with shared responsibility

We are developing our management organization from a traditional division between nursery and kindergarten to a more community-oriented leadership, where we share the tasks among us.

The second department head will have a particular focus on shift scheduling and staff administration. Your focus will be the professional leadership of the work with inclusive child communities and children in vulnerable positions.

About Blomsten

Blomsten is an integrated nursery and kindergarten with recognition and sustainability as central elements in our pedagogical profile.

We work from the positive intention and are curious about what lies behind the actions of children and adults.

We operate under Solrød Municipality's Children and Young People Policy: Children and young people do the best they can. When a child has difficulty participating, we examine both the child's needs and the relationships, the frameworks and learning environments the child is part of.

Blomsten is a growth institution and has two growth places to which children are referred. We have extra resources to develop the frameworks, relationships and learning environments that give the children real participation opportunities.

The entire staff is engaged in competence development focusing on inclusive pedagogy and the work as a growth institution. As our new department head you will contribute to the professional direction and ensure that the new knowledge is tested and anchored in practice.

Professional leadership close to practice

With us, professional leadership does not take place only behind a desk. Therefore you must be visible in everyday life and close to the children, the staff and the pedagogical practice. Among other things, you will be responsible for:

  • collaboration with the staff to create a daily life of high quality (we use KIDS)
  • advise and brainstorm with the staff and ensure that the initiatives create the desired development
  • coordinate initiatives and create clarity about goals for children who need a particular intervention.
  • support the development of inclusive child communities

As department head you are self-scheduling your working time in collaboration with the other department head, to ensure a good balance between participation in practice and time to carry out the administrative tasks. We expect you to average around 10 hours per week on administrative tasks.

Parental collaboration and interdisciplinarity

Interdisciplinary collaboration is an integrated part of the task. You must be able to assess when the institution's own pedagogical measures should be supplemented with knowledge from PPR or pedagogical advisers.

You must be able to lead meetings about the children, gather different perspectives and translate advice into concrete actions. At the same time you must be able to conduct the necessary parent conversations clearly, respectfully and with courage. Sometimes you must also be able to handle difficult conversations. It is important that you can remain calm and maintain direction while being curious about the other person's perspective.

What you bring with you as our new department head

You have an eye for both the individual child and the bigger context and meet children, parents and colleagues openly and warmly. You take initiative when you see a need, and follow up tasks and initiatives through to the end. At the same time you can stay calm and maintain an overview when situations are complex or you encounter resistance.

  • We imagine that you are: trained as an educator or have another relevant pedagogical education
  • have experience from the early childhood education sector
  • have knowledge about children in vulnerable positions, inclusion and special initiatives
  • have experience with and courage for professional leadership of staff
  • work systematically and follow complex processes through to the end
  • are strong in parental collaboration and interdisciplinary cooperation
  • can translate Solrød Municipality's view of children and leadership foundation into practice
  • actively contribute to a close and committed leadership collaboration.

Your leadership should be based on Solrød Municipality's leadership foundation: integrity, trust, courage and curiosity.

It is an advantage if you have a leadership education or relevant further education in areas such as special pedagogy, inclusion, guidance or pedagogical leadership.

Why choose Blomsten

With us you get a meaningful professional area of responsibility and the opportunity to develop and put your mark on our work as a growth institution. You will have clear room for action and responsibility to drive the work forward, while also becoming part of a leadership community where we share the responsibility, use each other's perspectives and together create the best framework for children and staff at Blomsten.

We look forward to welcoming you so we can together develop our pedagogical practice.

Practical information

The position is 37 hours per week with start as soon as possible. You will be employed according to the applicable collective agreement, and paid according to relevant experience and qualifications. Salary 41,800 DKK excluding pension.

If you have questions or would like to visit Blomsten, you are welcome to contact day-care manager Henriette Knudsen at phone 23 23 95 30 or [email protected].

The application deadline is October 15, 2026, and we expect to hold 1st interview Thursday in week 43, and 2nd interview Wednesday week 44. Between the 1st and 2nd interview you will have to complete a personality assessment, for which you will receive personal feedback on Tuesday in week 44.

We look forward to hearing from you.

In Solrød Municipality, we make a difference together with the citizens. We work to realize the council's vision that Solrød should be the best place to live and reside. As a workplace we are a community where we lift tasks across institutions and departments, and where you as an employee are an important player. We are in motion and always focus on learning and getting better. We take responsibility for solving tasks with a view to the whole, and you as an employee have influence on the solution of tasks and on your workplace.
