About the job

PET stands for your, Denmark's and the Realm's security. It is an important and societally critical task, which PET has broad frameworks to solve. The broad frameworks impose great demands that PET as an organization always is able to manage its responsibility in accordance with laws and guidelines.

Get a day-to-day that never becomes routine

As an employee in PET you will become part of a everyday life characterized by tasks that do not exist elsewhere, and each day offers new challenges that did not exist yesterday. We are very diverse, and therefore we can make a difference. It is about who you are and what you contribute.

Although our work is marked by the seriousness of the higher purpose, the tone is informal, and you will experience a unique camaraderie across departments and disciplines. We have a day-to-day life that never becomes routine, and you can have that too.

About the job

Internal Audit is a core element of a professional intelligence service. We perform systematic, risk-based audits, and thereby help identify risks and areas where PET can optimize its task execution and develop the organization. We supplement PET's other external audits and work to create a solid foundation for ongoing improvements.

As an employee in Internal Audit you will have broad contact across PET and work with issues that only a few others get to experience. You enter an audit function characterized by high professionalism and room to take responsibility for your own tasks. You also become an important professional sparring partner for your colleagues across the organization and get the opportunity to collaborate with both management, other parts of PET and relevant external partners.

We work across different professional areas. These can include financial audits, handling of personal data, IT and information security, and the operational activities. Even if you do not have experience in all areas, it is important that you are eager to learn more about them.

Your tasks will consist of analyzing risks and internal processes to identify areas where PET can develop its task execution. We are looking for someone who is process-strong and has the ability to understand where processes break and how we can design controls that both ensure legality and support operational efficiency. You also contribute to documenting and communicating your recommendations to management and to the ongoing development of our audit methods, workflows and tools.

Two different career paths

We have several vacancies and seek staff with different backgrounds.

The motivated and eager new graduate

If you have just completed a relevant education and are motivated to learn the craft behind professional control, we offer you a unique entry point to the intelligence service. The most important thing is that you have a strong interest in learning about risk management, supervision, control and auditing.

You will start by gaining insight into our methods and under close sparring learn how to perform systematic and risk-based control. In time you will become a central piece in PET’s overall control environment, where you have a solid grasp of both the methodological and professional aspects of audit.

The experienced audit and supervision profile

The second profile is aimed at the experienced specialist with 5-10 years of professional experience who has a deep understanding of how risk management can be transformed into value-creating control. We are looking for someone who has professional experience and knows how to participate in a control environment and thereby design and implement controls that create real value.

We imagine that you have experience from a similar position in an internal audit department, the National Audit Office, a supervisory authority, or a supervision department in a ministry or agency, where you are used to navigating complex, rule-bound environments.

If you come with a background other than those above, which you assess can contribute positively to our work, we would naturally also like to hear from you.

Your profile and personal qualities

As a staff member with us you should

  • have good judgment and be able to ask critical questions
  • be able to maintain an overview when the framework around you changes
  • be able to thrive in a politically governed organization where the operational reality requires ongoing adjustments.

We expect you to have a relevant academic education in areas such as political science, sociology, law, auditing or economics, but it could also be a professional bachelor within a relevant field. The most important is that you are analytical and structured, and have the ability to see both detail and the big picture.

Employment terms

Start of employment is as soon as possible or no later than January 1, 2027. You can read more about PET's entire recruitment process at www.PET.dk/job.

We expect to conduct employment interviews in weeks 45 and 46.

An employment at PET must be treated with discretion, which you as an applicant should be aware of. This means that you can generally share with close and trusted relationships that you have applied for a position at PET, but not what the job entails.

It is a condition of employment at PET that you can be security cleared to Top Secret, and you must be able to maintain the security clearance throughout your employment. As security-cleared, you are expected to be particularly mindful of your confidentiality regarding classified information.

If you have an academic background, you will be hired under the applicable collective agreement in accordance with the current agreements between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professionals (AC). If you have another educational background, you will be hired under the applicable state office workers’ collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and HK/STAT and the OAO-S joint agreement.

Your workplace will be at Klausdalsbrovej 1 in Søborg, right next to Buddinge station, where both the S-train, light rail and bus run to the door. In PET we work with internal systems and confidential tasks, and therefore we also come to work every day to solve our tasks.
