About the job

We are a house in rapid development – both professionally and organizationally, and you should therefore be keen to contribute to shaping your tasks and how we best create the best professional prerequisites for our residents in collaboration with your health and social care colleagues.

We are in the midst of an important development, focusing on strengthening professional quality and creating a safe working environment. In collaboration with the Social Supervisory Authority and the Working Environment Authority we are deliberately undertaking a number of initiatives to support this development.

It is a task we take seriously, and one that requires collective engagement, professional curiosity and good collaboration between management and staff. Therefore we are looking for colleagues who want to contribute with their professionalism, perspectives and dedication – and who are motivated to be part of creating positive changes in practice.

About Robertshøj and the residents who live here

Robertshøj is a residential care facility in Ørestad on Amager, right by Royal Arena and Fields – also Vestamager/Ørestad Metro is beside. We are a long-term residential care facility under § 105.

At Robertshøj there is room for 30 residents spread over three floors, i.e. 10 homes on each floor. We work with a resident perspective, where we place our residents’ right to co-determination and self-determination high in relation to our pedagogical professional interventions.

You will be assigned to either Robertshøj's 4th, 5th or 6th floor, but you must be willing and eager to think in wholes and the best possible solutions to the core task. Therefore you must be able to work on all floors. We place high emphasis on professionalism and collaboration, and therefore we work closely together, whether we have a social or health background.

Our residents have developmental disabilities ranging from mild to severe and also have extensive structure needs. They most often have an autism spectrum disorder or ADHD diagnosis and may have health-related diagnoses such as epilepsy from mild to severe.

These forms of loss of skills typically cause restlessness and outwardly directed behavioral patterns. The need for support varies from high to complete support needs for all daily tasks.

About you

We are looking for pedagogues (social educators), and it is a big advantage if you have experience in the special field. Of course we are also open to, for example, if you are newly graduated and up for a steep learning curve.

In addition, we expect that you

  • have experience with residents with physical and mental functional impairments and are passionate about making a difference
  • can contribute with relevant professional sparring to your colleagues with different professional backgrounds
  • have neuropedagogical knowledge or are eager to upskill in the field
  • can articulate practice and observations from everyday life, both through daily documentation, but also in status letters, applications etc.
  • can reflect on your own practice and contribute to further development of the shared professional approaches
  • thrive in a busy and unpredictable everyday life, where quick decisions need to be made

Since our residents are particularly sensitive and need calm, structure and stability in a recognizable daily life, you create safe frames with attention to the individual resident. You thrive in an environment where fixed routines as well as clear and targeted communication are part of the pedagogical practice.

It is a plus if you also have knowledge of and experience with the Low Arousal method and theory, which we use for conflict prevention.

Professionalism and collaboration

We work from an understanding of professional collaboration, where everyone in the house is employed to deliver equal parts of professionalism and collaboration. This means that no one is employed only to deliver professionalism. You must also be able to collaborate and communicate with everyone, because only when we can do that do we ensure the best conditions for the residents.

The pedagogical and health-care work is targeted based on the individual resident's wishes, resources and support needs. The resident perspective must always be visible in what we do, and it is important that it is the resident and not our personal preferences who are in the center.

On the basis of pedagogical observations we go behind the resident's behavior and seek to understand what meaning it has for the individual to display this particular behavior. We view all behavior as communication.

We place importance on everyone at the residence sharing responsibility for maintaining and developing a good working environment where everyone thrives and is motivated to contribute with the competencies we each possess. A good balance between professionalism, responsibility, joy, humor and collegial care means a lot to us. Reflection and contemplation are also important cornerstones in our work, and therefore we prioritize competence development highly.

We seek engaged employees who primarily are passionate about making a difference for the residents, and it should make sense to you to be part of a staff group where we pull together.

With us you will get

  • thorough induction and training
  • ongoing competence development through internal and external courses
  • an workplace that is part of a Center for Long-Term Residential Care with social and health care development consultants
  • a daily management with social and health care backgrounds based on trust, recognition and respect
  • a workplace with scope for influence and responsibility

Employment terms

We offer permanent positions at 37 hours per week with start as soon as possible.

In addition we have middle shifts, typically 12:00-20:00. We are a workplace that will go far to ensure your schedule is flexible and is therefore included in the hiring process, so please discuss with us what is important to you.
