About the job

Do you want to help support young people in Aarhus to translate their ideas into communities and well-being?

About the job

In FrirumAarhus we are looking for a colleague who will help strengthen young people's communities and participation through co-creation between young people, the municipality, educational institutions and civil society.

All young people deserve a good youth life, where it is possible to participate in positive and meaningful communities. Many young people seek gathering places and free spaces where they can be together with others and be themselves without demands for performance and pressure of expectations. This can happen through a stronger link between leisure and club life and educational institutions or by making existing local communities and recreational opportunities visible and bridged. The position is temporary for the period from January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2027.

As a project assistant you will play a central role in strengthening young people's participation and communities. You contribute to connecting educational institutions, municipal and civil society actors as well as local youth communities.

In FrirumAarhus we also convey young people's own perspectives and initiatives and make visible the many communities and opportunities for young people that exist in Aarhus. The position entails responsibility for coordinating communication and dissemination, especially via Instagram, LinkedIn and the website, in close collaboration with a student assistant and the city’s youth communities.

Your tasks will include

  • Create content for and with young people and collaboration partners on FrirumAarhus’ various communication channels together with the student assistant
  • Seek out and maintain collaborations with educational institutions, municipal actors and local youth communities
  • Co-share responsibility for event planning and execution of Entry programs in connection with the distribution of funds from FrirumsPuljen
  • Ensure coherence, overview and progress in activities and collaborations

You will be affiliated with Folkestedet under the Magistrate’s Department of Health and Care in Aarhus Municipality. Here you will report professionally to the program manager, and you will be part of a cross-magistrate working community, composed across professions and areas of work.

The work takes place primarily on weekdays, but there will also be tasks in the evenings and weekends in connection with activities and meetings with young people and partners. The hours are planned flexibly within the agreed weekly working time. The workplace is Folkestedet on Carl Blochs Gade.

Candidate profile

We are looking for a project assistant who can work securely at the intersection of young people, the municipality, educational institutions and civil society – and who understands that well-being is not created through interventions for young people, but with young people.

You can navigate in a workday with many collaboration surfaces and naturally take responsibility for coordinating tasks, processes and communication across the team. You have an eye for both relationships and structure and can translate young people’s ideas and perspectives into concrete activities and agreements.

We emphasize that you

  • Have strong relational skills and can build trust in collaboration with young people and partners
  • Thrive in an outreach role and can take initiative
  • Can develop communication and dissemination, visually and in writing, together with young people, including work with FrirumAarhus’ Instagram, LinkedIn and website
  • Are comfortable being in front of and behind the camera, as well as editing reels, stories etc. on Instagram.
  • Can ensure progress, planning and follow-up
  • Can work independently, but see yourself as part of a shared team
  • Have an understanding of volunteering, youth engagement and co-creative processes
  • Can accommodate that processes are not always linear, and that direction develops along the way

Educational background is of lesser importance, and the position is suitable for recent graduates without longer professional experience. The key is your ability to work practically, relationally and coordinatively – with respect for young people's voices and with a view to the whole.

Why you should choose us

Because you are passionate about taking part in the development and operation of FrirumAarhus together with the young people themselves and the many strong civil society actors and educational institutions.

We offer a varied job where two days are rarely the same, and with great freedom to fill the framework yourself. You will become part of a team of four employees and ongoing youth appointments, who inspire each other and make use of each other’s differences and competencies and who place emphasis on the social. There is room for laughter and if you dare think unconventionally to reach the goal, we also warmly welcome new ideas.

About the department

In FrirumAarhus we work together with the people of Aarhus for the good and healthy life. Our work is rooted in the city council’s goal that Aarhus should be a city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, participate in communities and participate actively – regardless of prerequisites.

FrirumAarhus works to develop, support and make visible communities for young people in Aarhus. We do this by translating young people’s ideas and initiatives into concrete activities, programs and communities among other things through grants, partnerships and local collaboratives.

The work takes place in close cooperation with young people, educational institutions, associations and other civil society actors as well as across the municipality’s magistrate departments. Aarhus Compass provides the common framework for the work, where we work practically and relationally with focus on participation, accessibility and local solutions.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is intended to start on January 1, 2027. The position is temporary and runs until December 31, 2027

Salary and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement and after concrete negotiations with the negotiating organization.
