Apply for the position

We shape the future of water and climate solutions – for the planet, society and future generations.

We are seeking a project engineer with a focus on wastewater and treatment plants. Is that you?

At Sweco we work to design a more sustainable society. The Water and Climate department contributes every day to this development when we work with solutions that protect the environment, ensure robust supplies and support the needs of society – both ours and those of future generations.

We advise public and private actors on complex water and wastewater solutions, where technology, environment, legislation and operation must come together in a higher unity. Our work ranges from strategic planning and design to authority processes and technical advisory, and what unites the tasks is that they have real significance: for the water environment, for the climate and for the people and companies that depend on well-functioning and future-proof solutions.

We work in strong, multidisciplinary communities, where knowledge is shared across disciplines and geography. With us, professionalism, responsibility and holistic thinking are fundamental values – and you will become part of an environment where there are high ambitions on behalf of both society and our clients.

About the position

In the role of project engineer you will be an important technical resource in the work with wastewater and treatment plants, where you contribute to the development and realization of technically robust and environmentally responsible solutions – from the initial analyses to the detailed design. You will become part of a professional environment based in Jutland or Funen, but will also work closely with our colleagues across the country across the business. Depending on qualifications, your tasks will include, among others:

  • Strategic planning and design of new and existing treatment plants
  • Technical advisory on process selection and optimization of treatment plants, including assessment of future treatment requirements and any BAT assessments, particularly for industrial customers
  • Environmental and regulatory related tasks, including preparation of applications for discharge and connection permits for both utilities and private companies
  • Preparation of tender material, technical descriptions and requirement specifications within the wastewater sector
  • Data processing

About you

We are looking for a project engineer who works responsibly and in a structured way and thrives in committed communities where both professional quality and collaboration culture are essential to succeed with complex tasks. You are collaborative, professionally curious and aware of your role in projects where solutions are developed collectively, and where one commits professionally and culturally.

We imagine that you

  • Are educated as a mechanical or process engineer
  • Have experience within the wastewater industry – either from consultancy, industry or the utilities sector

In addition, experience with or knowledge of one or more of the following

  • Preparation of tender material, technical descriptions and requirement specifications aimed at treatment plants and wastewater solutions
  • Regulatory handling, e.g., discharge and connection permits
  • Design and design of mechanical equipment for water treatment plants and/or pumping stations
  • Processes at public treatment plants, including possibly dimensioning calculations for traditional activated sludge plants
