About the job

Would you like to work with nature projects that create better conditions for climate, the water environment and nature? Nature Agency Himmerland is seeking a project manager and a project assistant for climate peatland and wetland projects. You will become part of a project team where 14 project managers and staff and 1 team leader currently work on projects under the Green Tripartite in both North Jutland and on the Djursland peninsula.

About the job

You will work with climate peatland and wetland projects, where agricultural land is transformed in collaboration with landowners and other local actors. The projects include technical, natural science and human aspects and range from initial investigations to implementation in the landscape.

As project manager you will be responsible for driving your own projects forward. You will maintain an overview of time, finances and decisions, coordinate the project team's work and bring colleagues' expertise into play.

As project assistant you will undertake independent tasks within the projects and work closely with the project managers. You can, among other things, contribute to landowner dialogue, technical investigations, authorities process and follow-up on agreements. Your tasks will be tailored to your competences and experience, and you will have experienced colleagues to brainstorm with.

Across the two positions we work, among other things, with

  • Planning and implementing projects from preliminary studies to authorities treatment, construction and completion.
  • Creating good relationships and engaging in dialogue with landowners, municipalities, extraction consultants and land distribution planners.
  • Ordering and following up on technical investigations, including hydrological assessments, and collaborating with advisers and contractors.
  • Establishing a clear basis for agreements and decisions.
  • Contributing to authorities processes, tenders, map materials and ongoing project management.

The projects are primarily carried out on private land where landowners’ participation is voluntary. Therefore trust, responsiveness and understanding of farming conditions are important to move from idea to a project that can be implemented.

About you

We imagine you have a relevant education in nature, environment, agriculture or engineering, for example as an agronomist, biologist, geographer, engineer, land surveyor, forestry graduate or forestry and landscape engineer.

For the project manager position we are looking for someone who has experience in leading projects and can create progress in processes with many parties and considerations. You will be responsible for your own projects but have experienced colleagues to discuss both small questions and difficult decisions with.

For the project assistant position we value your professionalism, your ability to collaborate and your willingness to take responsibility. You can also be relatively newly graduated.

It is advantageous if you have to some extent worked with peatland, wetland or other nature projects, have insight into hydrology or understand farming operations and the landowners’ perspective.

We also value that you

Work in a structured way and follow up on both professional and practical tasks.

Communicate clearly and collaborate well with people with different interests and areas of expertise.

Have knowledge of relevant authorities processes and preferably experience with GIS.

Thrive on sharing knowledge and using sparring actively in a large project team.

It is a requirement that you have a driver's license for a passenger car, as the projects require field visits and meetings with partners.

Your workplace

You will be based on a daily basis at the office in Mosskovgaard, located in a scenic area in Rold Skov near Skørping, but we also work a lot across units, so you may also work on projects in, for example, Vendsyssel, Thy or on Djursland.

With us, professional sparring is a natural part of everyday life. We share experiences across projects and help each other with everything from hydrology and authorities processes to landowner dialogue. The workplace is characterized by an informal tone and a strong emphasis on collegiality. You will also be part of Nature Agency's nationwide network of nature project staff and will work with both the head office and Nature Agency's other units. Trust, collaboration, job satisfaction, and recognition are fundamental to our work, which is characterized by great commitment and professional development.
