About the job
Can you see yourself in a vision that the folk church offers a place for young people in Aarhus, where you can hang out and participate in communities? Are you relationship-oriented? And are you comfortable with both sitting in planning meetings and taking on concrete, practical tasks – then we believe you will find this posting interesting.
Just over a year ago Christianskirken in Aarhus opened STEDET. Here, young people in Aarhus can hang out, sit with their studies, participate in activities, meet other young people for communal meals and have a meeting with the church at eye level. Are you the one who will help develop and consolidate that work?
STEDET is a physical location at Katrinebjerg, but it is also a way to show that the church is more than services; that the church is communities, conversations about big and small, opportunities to meet other young people and a pit stop in the everyday life that young people live.
There is talk of a one-year project position at 30 hours per week, with possible extension if future funding falls into place.
Tasks
As a project employee at Christianskirken, you shall overall help to live the church's vision:
Christianskirken - a life tree with many branches, that
· Rears visibly out into the parish
· Points upward and inspires to seek God
· Strengthens and engages the individual and the congregation
- to make the gospel known, believed and lived.
Concrete means that…
· you – in collaboration with among others the parish council, the project steering group and the other project employee – ensure the daily operations at STEDET, and in many contexts you are STEDET's face outward.
· you are host at STEDET, so that the young people who come in through the door feel welcome here.
· you can honestly say that you want to work with young people, are approachable and can take initiative to, e.g., a chat or start a board game.
· you enter into a collaboration with staff and volunteers to plan and carry out different types of activities. Eg communal meals where you alternate between standing in front and being "the one" and standing in the background and getting others to succeed in their volunteer tasks.
· you sit in the steering group (which consists of representatives from the parish council, youth council and staff at Christianskirken) for STEDET, and help set the direction for the project, and in many cases you are responsible for turning what is decided there into reality.
· you will be responsible for recruitment, retention and equipping of volunteers. For STEDET is not something that is done for the young, but something we do together with young people.
· you are tasked with nurturing and further developing our network with partners and stakeholders in Aarhus. This includes educational institutions, NGOs working with young people, neighbors at Katrinebjerg, key people in Aarhus Municipality and churches in Aarhus.
· you solve various administrative and coordinating tasks such as having an overview of our consumption and ensuring payments are made on time; booking of premises; preparation of meetings; that our trust box has goods on the shelves etc.
In daily life, your closest colleague is our project employee, focusing on communication and activities, and the priest attached to STEDET and the project leader. You have your own areas of responsibility, but you work together on much of what happens at STEDET.
We expect that you…
· has a constructive approach to things and can collaborate with both professionals and amateurs.
· has experience from volunteering yourself, and preferably you have experience engaging, motivating and collaborating with other volunteers in a way that they feel appreciated and as an active part of STEDET's life and activities.
· is curious about new people and comfortable bringing people together.
· can see the idea in that we as a church make this offer to young people in our city.
· is able to translate strategic decisions into concrete actions.
· has a sense for both the whole and the detail, and thrives with working at both a strategic and a practical level. Some days you will therefore sit and develop an idea, and other days you will sweep the vacuum so that there is ready for the next event.
· likes working in a team with others, while also being good at working independently, systematically and structured with your tasks.
· has a professional or experiential background relevant to this job.
· is flexible regarding working hours. Primarily day-work, but there is also evening work to varying extent.
· can identify with Christianskirken's values of collaboration - openness, respect, care and engagement - and also able to translate these in relation to other people.
