About the job

Do you want to lead billion-investments in the hospital of the future?

Aarhus University Hospital is facing a significant investment boost. The hospital shall be developed, expanded and future-proofed through a number of substantial construction and civil engineering projects with an expected investment framework of up to 3 billion DKK over the next 10 years.

We therefore seek a project manager who can translate ambitions and plans into reality. A leader who can create results through collaboration, professionalism and safe execution, and who can at the same time head the team that drives the largest construction projects at Aarhus University Hospital.

The position is anchored in Region Midtjylland's joint client organization, Construction and Properties, and you will here be a central part of the organization that plans and implements the region's largest building and construction projects.

A unique portfolio of projects

As project manager you will be responsible for a substantial project portfolio at Aarhus University Hospital,

Among the coming years’ largest projects are

  • Dansk Neuroforskningscenter 2.0 (DNC 2.0)
  • New Children's and Adolescent Hospital
  • Renovation and modernization of operating facilities
  • Establishment of a new sterilization central
  • Redevelopment and upgrading of patient rooms
  • Extensive renovations of technical installations and supply systems
  • Other renovation, expansion and extension projects to secure the hospital’s continued development

Many of the projects are realized in collaboration with external donors and funds, while others are financed through the government's Health Fund. Common for the projects is that they must be carried out in one of the country’s most complex and operation-intensive environments, where patient care and hospital operations must continue to function every single day.

Your tasks

As project manager you will be both team leader, client (project owner) and strategic partner.

You will be responsible for

  • Daily professional leadership of the team that works with the larger construction projects at Aarhus University Hospital
  • Management of your own complex building and construction projects
  • Ensuring progress, economy, quality and risk management
  • Close collaboration with the hospital's management, planning department and technical department, clinical departments and other users
  • Leadership of the collaboration with advisers, contractors and other external partners
  • Contribution to the joint development of Construction and Properties' overall project organization
  • Cross-regional collaboration with other project managers and project directors

You report to one of Construction and Properties' two project directors.

Who are you?

You probably have a construction-related or technical educational background, for example as an engineer, architect or constructor, combined with solid experience from large building and construction projects. You are motivated by ensuring progress and can maintain focus through long processes. Most importantly, you can deliver results – both yourself and through others.

We expect that you

  • Have experience leading complex building projects
  • Have strong leadership skills and are motivated by developing employees and teams. The team currently consists of three highly competent project managers, but the number will grow as new tasks start up.
  • Can create direction, buy-in and momentum in complex organizations
  • Have strong collaboration skills and thrive at the intersection of many stakeholders
  • Are structured and persistent in your execution
  • Have a view on both strategic goals and practical implementation
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, even when interests and considerations must be balanced
  • Have experience with financial management and risk handling in larger projects

Experience from hospital and/or pharmaceutical construction, public construction or another complex client organization would be an advantage.

Why choose us

In Construction and Properties you will become part of a large, public, well-functioning and experienced client organization. We are about 50 colleagues with strong professional excellence and high ambitions, who work together to optimize the region's property portfolio, including developing and delivering the region's larger construction projects. Some of us are based in the Region House in Viborg and others at the region's five acute hospitals – including Aarhus University Hospital, where the project manager for AUH will have their permanent workplace.

  • Make a lasting impact on the future of the healthcare system
  • Work on some of the country’s most complex and societally critical construction projects
  • Lead a strong professional team with high competence and great independence
  • Join a close professional community with the region's other project managers and directors
  • Work in an organization characterized by high professionalism, integrity and collaboration

We have the plans under control. Now we are seeking the project manager who can pull the threads together, create momentum and ensure that the projects become reality.
