Psychologist for the Competence Center for Transcultural Psychiatry, Psychiatric Center Ballerup, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital

Tasks and daily life

Your tasks are clinical, concerning psychotherapy for primarily severely traumatized refugees, secondarily patients with another ethnic background, where the cultural frame of understanding can influence the understanding and treatment of the disorder. Half of the patients need an interpreter.

The patients have trauma-related, psychiatric disorders such as PTSD, depression and anxiety disorders, as well as other mental disorders in people with another ethnic background, where the cultural frame of understanding can influence the understanding and treatment of the disorder.

You will work closely with the competence center's doctors, who handle all diagnostics and are responsible for treatment throughout the entire psychotherapeutic process. In addition, you will collaborate closely with social workers. There is also collaboration with the nurses, who run supportive courses for patients who are not considered able to benefit from an actual psychotherapeutic course.

You will work within the cognitive-behavioral therapeutic framework according to manuals. The programs are framed as is common in psychiatric care pathways, but the content can be flexible, as not exclusively working diagnosis-specifically.

All clinicians contribute to research through ongoing data collection during patient care, and all clinicians are thus part of the research work. Research at CTP is integrated, so clinical challenges that may arise in treatment can lead to investigations within research frameworks.

In this context, there is ongoing development of methods in psychotherapy, as well as quality assurance of methods with fixed meetings. Supervision is offered, which, in addition to a thorough introduction to the tasks, gradually ensures your professional development.

As a Competence Center, clinicians also take on dissemination tasks internally and externally, so you are expected to contribute to knowledge exchange as part of your employment.

What you will become part of

• You will become part of a department with region and highly specialized function for traumatized refugees and thus a department that handles the treatment of psychiatric patients with trauma-related disorders. • You will become part of a larger outpatient clinic, where we value interdisciplinary collaboration, flexibility in working life and patient pathways, a focus on evidence-based treatment and wellbeing highly.
• As an employee of the Competence Center you will also be part of the overall psychology group at Psychiatric Center Ballerup consisting of about 80 psychologists. You are offered ongoing supervision.

Who are you?

We seek a colleague with clinical experience in psychotherapy and an interest in treating refugees and PTSD. It is advantageous if you have experience from the psychiatric field and preferably within the former Region Hovedstaden Psychiatry.

You have knowledge of cognitive-behavioral therapy methods. You are willing to work according to manuals and see data collection for research as a enriching part of the work, which in time will make us wiser about the target group.

You have good abilities to collaborate with your own and other professional groups and have experience with and a desire to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration about the patients.

Experience with interpreter-assisted conversations is an advantage but not a requirement.

About Psychiatric Center Ballerup

Psychiatric Center Ballerup (PCB) is a modern hospital under Herlev Gentofte, with about 750 employees and main functions within acute reception, inpatient, day and outpatient treatment. PCB has special functions in treatment of PTSD, eating disorders, traumatized refugees, rehabilitation and deaf psychiatry.

In addition, PCB has long had a close and well-functioning collaboration with Herlev Hospital regarding somatic complications and comorbidity, among other things through supervisory functions and teaching. As part of the Health Structure Reform, PCB has recently been formally merged with Herlev-Gentofte Hospital

PCB has a large group of psychologists of about 80 across departments. You will be attached to the psychology group, where you across the center have the opportunity for ongoing sparring, exchange of experiences and supervision.

Salary and employment conditions

The position is a permanent position of 37 hours, with placement on 1 January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will be employed in accordance with the agreement for academics employed in regions etc.
