MATR makes organic meat alternatives based on mushroom fermentation. We have moved from pilot production to establishing our own production facility in Skovlund, and we have the backing capital to really scale in the coming years.

We are seeking a QEHS Manager who will own quality, food safety and occupational health and safety on site — and who will lead us through an IFS certification within 15 months.

First, what makes the role hard

We would rather be honest now than three months in

• This is a hands-on role. You build the QMS, and you also run the daily operations: sampling, process control, documentation and daily batch release.
• You have two things running concurrently — the daily production and a certification project with a deadline. There are periods when they pull in opposite directions, and you must set priorities.
• Work is performed on-site in Skovlund. Food safety cannot be managed from home.
• We are a company in the building phase. Much is not in place yet. If that is a problem, this is the wrong position. If that is the reason you are reading on, then it is the right one.

Your responsibilities

Quality and Food Safety

• Overall responsibility for product quality and food safety at the production site — monitoring, optimization and daily operations
• Sampling, process control, result review and documentation
• Daily batch release (positive release), including management of the organoleptic evaluation team
• Establishment and ongoing development of our QMS — results, deviation and document control
• Regulatory contact and compliance with applicable laws, including reporting in eSmiley and maintenance of the HACCP plan with corresponding documentation
• Correct product declarations, product and material specifications
• Management of the start-up and implementation of IFS toward certification within 15 months
• Conducting supplier audits and hosting customer and regulatory audits

Occupational Health and Safety

• Chair of the occupational health and safety group and ownership of the health and safety effort: compliance, APV, training materials and completed training — in close collaboration with production management and maintenance

Environment

• Together with the site manager and maintenance manager: that the necessary permits are in place and maintained. (Environmental and energy optimization is driven by the production and technical management.)

You work closely with production, technical/engineering, maintenance as well as sales and marketing, and report to our CSCO.

Your background

• Bachelor's or master's degree in food science, food technology, biotechnology, chemistry or similar
• Minimum 5 years of experience with quality and food safety in food production — at a level where you have had own responsibility, not just contributed
• Experience with a GFSI standard (IFS, BRCGS, FSSC 22000). If you have led a company through a first-time certification yourself, that is the strongest background we can imagine
• Danish and English at work level

• Strong communicator — from operators on the floor to management and authorities
• High personal integrity. You say it like it is, even when the answer is inconvenient. In food safety, this is not a soft value; it is the job itself
