Re-advertisement: Børnehuset Akeleje has moved into a new building and is therefore looking for two pedagogues

We have opened new rooms in a completely newly built children's house, and therefore still need a couple of wonderful colleagues.

Børnehuset Akeleje opened almost 4 years ago. In June 2026 we moved into our lovely newly built house. Therefore we are now looking for two more pedagogues to continue and further develop the good pedagogical work. One position is in the kindergarten, the other in the nursery.

We are a workplace with high pedagogical ambitions, an informal approach to one another, and lots of good laughter and humor in everyday life. We work to create a living together at Akeleje where the child’s voice is the most important and adults are adjustable, responsible, and setting boundaries with a view to the child and the child community.

We are missing one pedagogue in the kindergarten and one in the nursery.

Akeleje's pedagogical practice

At Akeleje we are professionally focused on the child’s initiative, the present moment, and creating important childhood memories that form the foundation for the child’s understanding of themselves as an individual and in an important community.

We work from a view of children as capable and with meaningful knowledge about themselves. This means that we understand that children need to practice being exactly who they are many times – and that in all sorts of contexts children develop inner coping strategies more than external ones. Therefore, we must create rich pedagogical experiential environments in which children can try out and develop their coping strategies.

In the latest inspection report from Børnehuset Akeleje it stated: ”There is a positive tone throughout the day. The adults’ interest in the children is clear and seen especially in the adults’ acknowledgment of children’s initiatives and inclusion of children’s perspectives in play and activities. It is particularly highlighted that there is a positive tone towards children throughout the day.”

Time for preparation

Professionalism and pedagogical quality are essential to succeed with the political ambition of creating strong communities for all children and young people, and that requires time and space for immersion, reflection and collaboration for the pedagogical staff. In Roskilde Municipality it is politically prioritized that all houses are allocated preparation time.

The preparation time should give staff the opportunity to work more systematically with the core task, and at the same time create better conditions for professional development, well-being, job satisfaction and strong communities – without compromising child time and staffing levels.

As an employee in Roskilde Municipality there are various staff benefits. For example free training facilities at the Town Hall, holiday houses, art association and discounts at training centers. In addition there is ongoing work to create better frameworks for teachers’ work through e.g. continuing education, preparation time, and flexibility in employment levels and working hours.
