About the job

Do you want to help set the direction for the future of home care in Hadsten?

We are looking for a committed department head with a health professional background and a focus on both people, operations and development. As head of home care in Hadsten, you will have a central role in creating quality, continuity and safety for the citizens – and at the same time helping to develop an attractive workplace where skilled employees thrive, develop and want to stay.

You will become part of an area where we are already well underway with translating the new elderly care act into practice. Here you will have the opportunity to shape the development in close cooperation with the head of the nursing department, the employees and the rest of the leadership team. Collaboration between home care and nursing is central, and we see joint leadership as an important framework for creating coherence, common direction and high quality in citizen pathways.

As department head you will have staff management for about 45 employees – social and health care helpers, social and health care assistants, unskilled workers and apprentices – who together cover the tasks around the clock.

In the municipal home care in Favrskov Municipality we provide care, practical assistance and delegated nursing to citizens in their own homes. We work closely with citizens’ everyday lives and focus on ensuring that help is experienced as coherent, dignified and meaningful.

We work in fixed cross-disciplinary teams, where continuity, rehabilitation and reducing loneliness are important drivers. This means that you as a leader must be able to create followership, support collaboration across teams and be close to both employees, operations and professional development.

We work purposefully to increase quality, strengthen well-being and retain our employees. Therefore we pay great attention to reducing sickness absence and limiting the use of temporary agencies – not as standalone goals, but as part of the work with a healthy, sustainable and professionally strong workplace.

You will join an organization in development where employees are engaged and where leadership is about both direction, presence, collaboration and shared responsibility. You will become part of a well-functioning leadership team with four leaders and a area director, where we place a strong emphasis on joint leadership and work closely together on both operations, development and well-being.

As department head you will be part of a binding leadership community, where joint leadership and close interaction with especially the head of nursing is a natural part of everyday life. We meet regularly every week to ensure a shared direction – both locally and together with colleagues in Home Care West. We use data as an active management tool to create transparency, follow up on our goals and involve employees in the development of the task solution.

Collaboration with the Health, Safety and Work Environment (TR) and the AMR is functional and based on openness, trust and equality. We see knowledge sharing, professional sparring and dialogue as a natural part of the joint task solution.

As department head you will have your workplace at Kildebakken 6, 8370 Hadsten. Since the area is geographically large, it is important that you have a driver's license for a passenger car.

When you start with us, we ensure that you receive a thorough introduction to Favrskov Municipality, the home care service and your concrete tasks. You will also be assigned a mentor who can support you in the first period and help you settle into both the role, tasks and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Your most important tasks as a leader

You will be responsible for daily operations, including planning citizen visits, financial management and prioritizing resources within the delegated framework. This happens in close collaboration with schedulers and duty planners, who handle the daily planning – and where we expect you as a leader to be close, curious and actively supportive.

You must be able to translate goals, values and decisions into a clear direction in daily life. At the same time, you must support, develop and coach the employees in the individual teams so that tasks are solved with high professionalism and with the citizen's needs as the shared reference point. It requires that you can create followership through dialogue and collaboration – and that you want to lead in close interaction with other leaders, where joint decisions and cross-coordination are a strength.

You focus on well-being, the work environment and development – both for the individual employee and for the team as a whole. You will run, among other things, team meetings and performance development interviews and help create a culture where dialogue, responsibility and cooperation go hand in hand.

As a leader you play an important role model. You contribute to a good physical and mental work environment and create the framework for employees to succeed in their tasks – even when everyday life is complex and requires clear prioritization.

We emphasize that you

  • have leadership experience – or clear motivation to develop yourself as a leader.
  • have a health professional background.
  • have experience with or an interest in working in a politically governed organization.
  • want to contribute to the health professional development in the area.
  • can take responsibility for the practical area for social- and health care helper and assistant apprentices in collaboration with practical supervisors and the Quality and Education Department.
  • have financial understanding and can convey financial messages clearly and precisely.
  • have a leadership education – or willingness to pursue a leadership education at diploma level or equivalent.

As a person and leader you are

  • visible, clear and trustworthy in your leadership style.
  • initiative-taking, flexible and well considered.
  • positive and proactive with strong collaboration skills and a desire to practice joint leadership in daily life.
  • good at building relationships, sharing knowledge and working committedly across the municipal organization.
  • reflective and dialogic in your approach to leadership.
  • energetic, humorous and creative – and good at motivating others.
  • a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
