About the job

Do you want to help strengthen the future of cancer surgical research in Denmark?

Do you have experience with research coordination, project management and scientific communication – and are you motivated by creating collaboration across disciplines and institutions?

Then you may be our new scientific coordinator at the Danish Research Center for Cancer Surgery – ACROBATIC.

We are looking for an engaged and structured scientific coordinator for a permanent part-time position of 30 hours per week with start on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About ACROBATIC

The Danish Research Center for Cancer Surgery – ACROBATIC is a national research center established with support from Knæk Cancer via The Danish Cancer Society and anchored in the Danish Comprehensive Cancer Center (DCCC).

The center works to strengthen research, collaboration and knowledge sharing in cancer surgery across Denmark.

The goal is clear: to cure more patients with cancer and improve quality of life after their cancer operation.

ACROBATIC functions as a national umbrella organization that creates strong frameworks for cross-disciplinary and cross-regional research collaboration within four clinical focus areas, spanning across the many cancer types where surgery constitutes a significant part of the treatment. The research ranges widely and includes, among other things:

  • prehabilitation and risk stratification
  • optimization and reuse of surgical methods across cancer forms
  • experimental surgery
  • robotic surgery
  • personal follow-up and survivorship
  • metastatic disease

The center collaborates with researchers, clinicians and institutions across the country and supports a strong inter- and multidisciplinary research environment.

About the position

As a scientific coordinator you will play a central role in the day-to-day operation and further development of the center. You will work closely with the center director, Professor Lene Hjerrild Iversen, as well as the center's Steering Committee and Management Board.

Your primary tasks

Leadership and project support

  • create an overview of the center's activities, progress and milestones
  • coordinate follow-up on decisions and ensure implementation and deadlines

  • support the center's visibility nationally and internationally

Events and activities

  • contribute to the preparation of grant applications
  • prepare reporting to foundations and grant providers
  • coordinate input from researchers and partners
  • follow up on grants and have an overview of finances and deadlines
  • work with the financial staff on budget and follow-up

Your competencies

It is required that you

  • have a relevant academic background - preferably a PhD in health sciences, natural sciences or equivalent
  • have solid experience with research projects and project management
  • have strong communication skills - both oral and written in Danish and English and on social media.

Experience with cancer research and grant applications is an advantage.

In terms of personal qualities, we are looking for a colleague who can balance a high level of independent responsibility with a willingness to join a team where we pull together. A colleague who

  • works in a structured and independent way
  • thrives in complex collaborations with many stakeholders and is motivated to create coherence, progress and strong relationships

We offer
