About the job
Do you want to work as a chief physician in the Greenlandic Health Service and enjoy a daily life with great professional responsibility, broad medical issues and patient pathways where you can really make a difference?
At the Medical Department, at Queen Ingrids Hospital, we are seeking one or two experienced chief physicians to help develop the department and ensure high-quality patient pathways.
With us, our core values are responsibility, meaningfulness, medical art and development. You will become part of a dynamic department with high professionalism, close collegial sparring and a strong focus on the patient, quality and education.
We offer
- A versatile chief physician position with a broad medical scope and the opportunity to put your professional mark on the department.
- Great professional responsibility and the possibility to work with both acute and complex medical issues in patients from across Greenland.
- Close collaboration with skilled colleagues in the department and specialists at Rigshospitalet, who are available for sparring around the clock.
- Opportunity to develop your own subspecialty while working broadly with internal medicine.
- A daily work life where your clinical experience, judgment and logistical sense matter greatly.
- Opportunity to contribute to supervision and education of younger doctors.
- A workplace in Nuuk where a strong professional environment meets magnificent Arctic nature.
We are looking for someone who
- Is a specialist with Danish medical authorization within one of the internal medicine subspecialties, oncology or general medicine.
- Has solid professional experience in internal medicine and a desire to work broadly.
- Thrives in interdisciplinary collaboration and has good teamwork and communication skills.
- Can create an overview and has good logistical sense – also in complex patient pathways.
- Wants to take responsibility for 1-2 subspecialties while also working broadly during shifts.
- Is passionate about supervision and the professional development of trainees.
- Has an interest in the Greenlandic Health Service and preferably experience working in Greenland.
- Has experience in broad internal medicine, neurology or oncology – this is an advantage, but not a requirement.
About us
- The Medical Area has an outpatient clinic, day ward and 34 beds spread across two wards, as well as an integrated pediatric ward with eight beds.
- We have a Common InterMediary Ward (IMA) with six beds for close monitoring of patients with heart diseases and other acute illnesses.
- We receive patients from across Greenland and treat both routine and complex medical issues.
- We have patients at the Patient Hotel and participate in patient transfers from regional hospitals.
- As a chief physician you will conduct ward rounds on the inpatient wards, the IMA and the Patient Hotel, as well as ambulatory functions.
- You advise the doctors at the regional hospitals and contribute to supervising medical trainees.
- Chief physicians participate in 4-5-shift 24-hour on-call duties that serve both Queen Ingrids Hospital and the rest of Greenland.
- We have a culture characterized by trust, respect, professional sparring and interdisciplinary collaboration.
