Senior Project Manager – complex IT implementations

Do you want to lead large digital implementation projects where technology, business, organization and governance must work together?

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager who can take the operational project management responsibility for larger implementation projects at our customers.

Your first task will be a central role in implementing a new cloud-based HR platform at a larger Danish public organization. It is a complex project with integrations, data migration, testing, training, deployment and transition to operations – and with many people and professional groups that need to succeed together.

You will be the one who creates overview, ensures progress and makes the many strands come together.

What does the job involve?

As a Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for the daily management and coordination of the project. You will become a central project management contact point for the customer and must create coherence between the customer’s organization, Knowit’s delivery team, our technology partner and the contractual delivery.

You must be able to move between the detail and the big picture. One day you follow up on a critical dependency between integration and data migration. The next you prepare a decision basis for the steering committee or handle a change that affects both scope, economy and schedule.

You will, among other things, be responsible for

• Driving the overall project plan and keeping track of milestones, dependencies and critical path
• Ensuring progress and closely monitoring economy, quality and resources
• Coordinating across functional consultants, architects, integration, data, testing, training and operations
• Identifying and handling risks and issues – and escalating timely when necessary
• Creating clear decision basis and ensuring follow-up on the decisions made
• Managing changes and consequences for scope, time, economy and resources
• Working closely with the customer’s project manager and project organization
• Driving project management and governance forums and reporting to the steering group
• Ensuring a controlled path through testing, cutover and go-live to stable operations

Who are you?

This is a role for an experienced project manager who knows the realities of large and complex IT implementations.

You have experienced taking responsibility when the schedule is challenged, when several delivery strands depend on each other, and when customer, suppliers and other stakeholders have different priorities. You know when to drill down into detail – and when to create a clear decision basis and lift it to the steering group.

We imagine that you

• Have solid senior project management experience from larger and complex IT implementations
• Have experience from the public sector or from larger, contract-heavy enterprise projects in e.g. finance, utilities, telecom or other complex organizations
• Have experience with client-supplier projects and coordinating deliveries across several parties
• Have proven experience with managing time, economy, scope, quality and resources
• Are strong in governance, risk management, change control and reporting to steering groups and management
• Have led projects with complex integrations, data migration or similar technical dependencies
• Have experience with testing, cutover, go-live and transition to operations at project management level
• Can create structure and progress in projects with many specialists and parallel delivery streams
• Communicate confidently with both professional specialists, the customer’s project organization and decision-makers at management level

Experience with SaaS and cloud implementations, ERP/HCM or similar enterprise platforms is an advantage. If you have worked with Oracle, that is a plus – but not a requirement. Oracle competencies are in our delivery organization.

A relevant project management certification such as PRINCE2, PMI/PMP or similar is also an advantage.

Who are you as a project manager?

You are the one who makes a complex project come together. Not because you have all the answers yourself, but because you create structure, bring the right people to the table and ensure that decisions are made and translated into action.

Methods and governance are important. But they do not create progress on their own.

You must be able to get people to work together – even when the project is complex, deadlines are tight, and there are different interests around the table.

• Dare to challenge both the customer and your own team constructively when the project requires it

In other words, you are not a sidelines project manager. You are close to the project, the people and the delivery – and take responsibility for getting it all safely to the finish line.

As a Senior Project Manager you get a large responsibility and a clear mandate. But you also get a strong delivery organization around you.

You will work with experienced solution architects, functional and technical specialists, Test Management and operations capabilities. The project also has a PMO that supports onboarding, project management structure, planning, governance and ongoing quality assurance.

That means you can focus on what you are best at: leading the project, driving progress and making the customer and delivery organization succeed together.
