Senior Security Architect Frederiksberg Municipality - Copenhagen

Do you want to be the driving force behind designing and implementing Microsoft Security in one of Denmark's largest municipalities by population? Are you motivated by a newly created role where you get real technical ownership with central technologies such as Defender, Purview, Entra and Intune?

Frederiksberg Municipality is seeking a Senior Security Architect for a newly created role with technical ownership of the municipality's Microsoft Security domain. You will help shape the security function, design robust solutions, and ensure that architecture, governance and implementation hang together in everyday work.

The municipality is geographically compact but large in complexity: about 106,000 residents, about 7,000 employees, more than 400 systems and a significant IT footprint. The IT organization has grown in recent years from about 30 to around 70 employees, and there has been substantial investment in modern workplace, information and cybersecurity, governance, operations and technical platforms. The next step is to obtain an internal key person who can provide an overview, prioritize correctly and take ownership of the Microsoft Security track technically.

About the job

You will be our technical pivot for Microsoft Security with a focus on design, implementation and further development of solutions that must function in a large, complex organization. You must be able to combine architectural overview with practical configuration, technical analysis and sparring with colleagues across Digitalization and IT.

Specifically, it means that you

• own the technical security configuration in, for example, MS Defender, Purview, and Entra – you help design the setup and implement it
• are the go-to for our monitoring and active security work. You define and monitor several alerts yourself, and you ensure that incidents lead to fixes in the security platforms
• work closely with IT infrastructure on hardening, access control and logging
• participate in governance work for Teams and SharePoint and contribute to defining how the solutions should function in practice
• contribute to the development of the municipality's security architecture.

We are not looking for a classic advisor. We are looking for a person who can both design the solutions and help realize them. You will have a large responsibility for the technical direction, but the results are created in close collaboration with colleagues in operations, infrastructure, architecture and information security.

The role has been created because we want to leverage the security functions we have already invested in much better. Our ambition includes strengthening monitoring, data protection, endpoint security and governance on the Microsoft platform.

In the first 3-6 months there will be concrete initiatives around Purview and Defender, where you can get a good entry into the area and gradually make your mark. In the longer term, the role can develop in a more architectural direction, depending on your experience and ambition.

About you

We imagine you have solid practical experience with Microsoft’s security stack. Not just knowledge of what the tools are called, but experience with how they behave when they meet an organization with real users, complex operating environments and necessary exceptions. Certifications such as AZ-500/SC-500, SC-200, SC-300, SC-400 are a plus. If you don't have them, there is an opportunity to obtain them.

More important than certificates is that you can move between the console and the whiteboard. We are a smaller IT organization, so you will sit both on the design side and with your hands in the implementation – and you must be able to explain both to someone who does not have your background. We also expect that you can create progress with AI automation of the configurations.

You must enjoy working across disciplines. A large part of the job is about collaborating closely with specialists in infrastructure, networks, endpoints, architecture and information security to find solutions that are secure, operationally stable and usable.

You are professionally strong and can stand your ground when necessary. At the same time you are curious about others' perspectives and see the value in developing solutions together. With us, the best results rarely arise alone in front of a screen, but in dialogue with colleagues who bring other skills and experiences to the table.

You are not expected to be an expert in all technologies, but you should have a curiosity to learn more. The most important thing is that you understand the connection between design, implementation, governance and ongoing improvement of the platform – and that you have been hands-on with security solutions in an organization with real users, complex environments and necessary exceptions.

About us

You will become part of the Digitalisation and IT department as well as the Information Security team, led by team lead Amanda Aune. The team consists of Esben, Kaj, Pia and Sille, who keep track of information security – from data processing agreements and risk assessments to the eternal mysteries of where data actually moves.

You will be the team’s technical backbone, and your day-to-day will be split between the information security area and our operations and infrastructure unit. About half of your time will be anchored close to specialists in servers, networks and endpoints, where security requirements are translated into concrete technical solutions.

You will also work closely with our IT and security architects when new solutions must bring security, architecture and operations together in a higher unit.

You will work on security across an organization with about 7,000 employees and more than 400 systems of all sizes and ages. We try to keep a clear head (with coffee), processes proper (with drawings) and morale high (with a healthy respect for Murphy's Law).

The position is newly created in a domain the municipality actively invests in. So there is something to shape – not just something to maintain.

We are based at Frederiksberg Town Hall, centrally in the city, just a few minutes' walk from Frederiksberg Metro.
