Senior Software Developer for the DAO

About the job

dao is in the process of a comprehensive modernization of its IT landscape. At the same time, the existing PHP platform continues to play a central role in daily business and supports systems and processes with high requirements for stability and uptime.

As a Senior Software Developer you will be one of the technically strongest profiles in the team. You will get close to the codebase and have an important role in understanding, stabilizing and continuously improving the platform, while preparing it for a long-term migration.

This means that you will both work with existing solutions and develop new services when it makes sense.

Your tasks

You will have great influence over your tasks and as a senior profile are expected to take technical ownership from problem statement to finished solution.

You will among other things

• develop, optimize and maintain backend solutions primarily based on PHP
• work with and improve a large and complex existing codebase
• identify technical debt and continuously improve stability and maintainability
• develop new services and APIs where it creates value
• work with SQL, databases and performance optimization
• actively participate in code reviews, testing and quality assurance
• work with Git, Docker as well as build- and deployment pipelines
• troubleshoot across application, database, network and platform
• spar with the business directly about needs and translate them into good technical solutions
• share your knowledge and help raise the technical level in the team

About you

We are looking for a very experienced backend developer who is not intimidated by a complex system landscape. On the contrary, you find it interesting to understand why things work the way they do and find the right way to improve them.

We imagine that you

• have around 10 years of experience with backend- and object-oriented development
• have several years of practical experience with PHP
• have experience with large and complex codebases
• have worked with modern frameworks, REST APIs and integrations
• have strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases
• have solid experience with Git and CI/CD
• have production experience with Docker – and preferably Kubernetes
• have experience with unit- and integration testing, debugging and performance optimization
• place code quality, structure and maintainability very high

Your experience does not need to be exclusively from PHP. If you have worked with other backend technologies during your career, we see that as an advantage.

You are curious and analytical and eager to get into the engine room. When something fails, you do not settle for treating the symptom – you want to understand the cause.

At the same time you have a business sense. You can talk with non-technical stakeholders about their needs, challenge requirements and help find the solution that actually creates value.

As a senior profile you naturally take responsibility for the quality around you. You actively contribute to code reviews, share your knowledge and help colleagues become better.
