About the job
Would you design data center networks for one of Denmark's most societally critical digital transformations? Do you have solid experience with complex network environments, and are you motivated by translating technical depth into robust, scalable and secure solutions?
If yes, then you are the one we are missing!
About us
The Program for Digital and Operational Transformation is to ensure the organization's future IT support, and thus contribute to the digital transformation and to strengthen the Defence's combat capability.
You will become part of the Digital Backbone department, which is responsible for the concrete establishment of the platform. It is an IT environment that is unique in size, task and characteristics, and with colleagues ranging from unskilled workers to researchers.
The positions are placed in the section for technical architecture, design and engineering, which is being established and which translates architecture, standards and operational needs into concrete technical designs for the Defence's new digital infrastructure.
We build the infrastructure from the ground up. This provides an opportunity to think innovatively and to make technical decisions that must work in practice, can scale and support the Defence's operational needs many years into the future.
About the roles
As a Senior Data Center Network Design Specialist you will play a key role in the design and expansion of the Defence's future data center network. You join while the foundation is being laid, and not only when the solutions have been decided.
The network must support high requirements for performance, availability, segmentation, compliance, isolation, security and operational robustness. The role requires both technical depth and the ability to see the bigger picture. You must be able to work on a whiteboard, understand the consequences in the infrastructure, and actively contribute to architectural choices.
You will become one of the central technical profiles in the area and will be responsible for translating architectural principles, security requirements and operational needs into coherent, implementable designs. You will also be part of establishing a modern Sovereign Private Cloud platform, where the data center network is a central foundation for VMaaS, CaaS and BMaaS.
You will work closely with enterprise and solution architects, other design specialists, engineers, capacity managers, project managers and civilian suppliers from the first design decisions to implementation, initial operation and further development.
We guarantee a varied workday in an environment with a startup spirit, where a large amount of responsibility goes hand in hand with great influence. You will have the opportunity for flexible working hours, personal and professional development, an employer-financed pension scheme and paid lunch breaks.
About you
Your educational title is not decisive, and you are likely not a specialist in everything, but it is your technical weight and ability to create solutions that work.
We expect you to have solid experience with networking and data center infrastructure and a deep understanding of how complex network solutions are designed, implemented, trouble-shot and operated.
You bring extensive experience from larger enterprise, data center, service provider or other complex network environments. It could include technologies from Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet or equivalent.
The position can be a natural next step from e.g. Senior Network Engineer, Data Center Specialist, Network Consultant, Technical Lead, designer or similar, to a more design-oriented role where the technical expertise remains central.
We place high value on both expertise and collaboration. You share your knowledge, challenge constructively and contribute to an environment characterized by high professionalism, trust and good cooperation.
You are proficient in technical English and have a driving license for a ordinary car (category B).
Employment terms
If you are an academic, you will be employed under the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).
If you have an IT professional education or another relevant education, you will be employed under the applicable Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees – The Public Sector (OAO-S Collective Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees.
Depending on your qualifications and competencies, we adapt the function. There is room for negotiation of a supplement. The position is connected to an employer-financed pension scheme.
Your daily workplace is in Karup or Aalborg. You should expect regular travel to all our locations.
As an employee within the Defence Ministry's area, you are subject to certain special conditions. Among other things, you must be security cleared and maintain the clearance during the entire employment.
You have an obligation as an employee to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-making, humanitarian and other similar operations.
