Sewing instructors wanted – with a focus on good craftsmanship

Are you skilled in sewing, pattern construction and tailoring techniques? And would you like to pass on your professional knowledge and craftsmanship?

Nordsjællands Aftenskole seeks engaged and professionally skilled instructors for sewing courses in Rudersdal, Hørsholm and Furesø.

We wish to expand our course program with instruction where classical sewing, precision, fit and solid craft techniques are at the center.

We are looking for instructors who can offer both basic and advanced courses in, for example:

• Pattern construction and cutting – from basic patterns to individual constructions and alterations.
• Classic garments sewing – sewing dresses, skirts, trousers, shirts, jackets and other garments.
• Sewing techniques – traditional handcraft techniques, precision sewing and professional details.
• Fit and alteration – work with individual measurements, fittings and adjustment of patterns.
• Advanced sewing techniques – for example underlining, interlining materials, pockets, collars, buttonholes and special sewing technique solutions.
• Specialized sewing courses – for example men's tailoring, corsetry, historical clothing or other traditional craft disciplines.

We are particularly interested in instructors who can offer courses for advanced and very advanced participants, but we also want to create good opportunities for beginners who want to learn the craft thoroughly from the ground up.

The traditional sewing craft is the focus. We are therefore not looking for instructors for upcycling, redesign or similar creative reuse activities at this time.

Who are you?

You have a solid craft background in sewing, preferably with a relevant professional education such as tailor, clothing craftsman or similar.

You have a thorough knowledge of materials, construction and sewing techniques and take pride in performing and conveying good craftsmanship.

Teaching experience is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important is that you have the professional competencies and the desire to share your knowledge with others.

What do we offer?

At Nordsjællands Aftenskole you will have the opportunity to develop and shape your own courses.

We are open to both fixed weekly classes, intensive course programs and weekend workshops. The teaching can take place during daytime, in the evening or on weekends after further agreement.

We handle course administration, marketing and registrations, so you can concentrate on teaching.

Salary and terms of employment

Teaching is paid in accordance with the applicable rules for teachers within folk high school adult education.

• The salary amounts to 330.74 DKK per teaching lesson of 45 minutes.
• In addition, 12.5% holiday pay.
• The usual preparation and planning of the teaching are included in the salary.

Employment is as a part-time hourly-paid instructor under the applicable rules in the evening school sector.
