About the job

Do you want to work with policy that makes a difference? Can you serve the minister and the government in a professional and fact-based manner? Then you might be our new colleague in the Ministry of the Environment.

The Ministry of the Environment is a central player in several of today’s major political issues

Transformation and the use of the Earth's resources are central political agendas, and your task will be to contribute to sharp, fact-based decision briefs, material for political negotiations, and policy proposals in the area of sea and raw materials for the minister and the government. In the department we work, among other things, with extraction and recycling of raw materials, ports, marine restoration and protection, and combating marine pollution.

Together with talented colleagues, who include lawyers, marine biologists and political scientists, you will work closely with the political decision-making processes on important and complex agendas that contribute to improving the marine environment and solving the raw materials supply challenge. Solutions in these areas are always found in collaboration with industry, a number of other stakeholders and other ministries, so it is essential that you have good collaboration skills and a flair for seeing what possible solutions could be.

It is an advantage but not a requirement if you also have experience with or an interest in a certain extent of international work – e.g. in the EU, IMO (International Maritime Organization), the UN or regional cooperation.

Our expectations of you

You have a relevant social science, natural science or other relevant master’s degree. We expect that you can see yourself in the following statements:

  • Good political understanding. You show good judgment in actions and decisions and understand how to integrate the Ministry of the Environment’s external world in the task solving.
  • Good process management: You are well-structured, think in the whole, and ensure effective progress in processes and tasks. You can prioritise and maintain an overview, even when tempo is high
  • Accountability: You take responsibility for your tasks and see them through – and you say when you see challenges or risks
  • Strong collaboration skills: You are proactive and good at involving and collaborating with colleagues, agencies, businesses, ministries and organisations. You should enjoy collaborating with other disciplines and together find solutions to political issues
  • Good communication: You are good at conveying complex professional material simply and clearly with attention to the recipient, so there is no confusion about what you mean, just as you are able to critically assess and sort through large amounts of information

If you have a natural or humanistic background we will place emphasis on whether you have experience with or a flair for political work.

It is an advantage but not a requirement that you have experience with ministerial processes.

Who are we?

The office is characterized by a very high degree of service to the minister, the government and the Folketing (Danish Parliament). You can be sure of your leader’s continuous focus on your professional and personal development.

In the Ministry of the Environment we work together to protect our nature and environment, and we work for a green transition of society. The tasks are solved in the ministry and the agency of the ministry.

The ministry’s main task is to create the optimal professional basis for the minister, the government and the Folketing to make decisions on the environmental area for the benefit of our surrounding society. We are an exciting and dynamic workplace close to the political system. We continuously strive to develop the organization in order to create simple and politically relevant solutions for the government of the day.

We focus on good leadership, and together we all work according to the values of simple, together and responsible.
