About the job
Are you interested in working with policy that makes a difference? Can you serve the minister and government professionally and with substance? Then you may be our new colleague in the Ministry of Environment.
The Ministry of Environment is a central player in several of today’s major political issues
Transition and the use of the Earth's resources are central political agendas, and your task will be to contribute to sharp, substantively sound decision proposals, material for political negotiations and policy proposals in the marine and mineral resources area for the minister and government. In the department we work, among other things, with extraction and recycling of resources, ports, marine restoration and protection, combating marine pollution.
Together with skilled colleagues who are, among others, lawyers, marine biologists and political scientists, you will work closely with the political decision-making processes on important and complex agendas that help improve the marine environment and solve the raw materials supply challenge. Solutions in these areas are always found in cooperation with business, a number of other stakeholders and other ministries, so it is crucial that you have good collaboration skills and a knack for seeing what possible solutions can be.
It is an advantage but not a requirement if you also have experience with or an interest in some extent of international work – e.g., in the EU, IMO (International Maritime Organization), UN or regional cooperation.
Our expectations of you
You have a relevant societal science, natural science or other relevant master's degree. We expect you to see yourself in the following statements:
- Good political understanding. You show good judgment in actions and decisions and understand how to integrate the Ministry of Environment's external environment in the task solving.
- Good process management: You are well-structured, think in holistic terms and ensure effective progress in processes and tasks. You can prioritize and maintain an overview, even when pace is high
- Responsibility: You take responsibility for your tasks and follow them through – and you say when you see challenges or risks
- Strong collaboration skills: You are proactive and good at involving and collaborating with colleagues, agencies, companies, ministries and organizations. You should find it exciting to collaborate with other disciplines and together find solutions to political issues
- Good communication: You are good at communicating complex academic material in a simple and clear way with attention to the recipient, so there is no doubt about what you mean, just as you are able to critically assess and sift through large amounts of information
If you have a natural sciences or humanities background we will place emphasis on whether you have experience with or flair for political work.
It is advantageous but not a requirement that you have experience with ministerial processes.
