About the job
Can you create structure in everyday life and at the same time make a difference for vulnerable children and young people?
With us you get a unique role where shift planning, relationship work and care go hand in hand.
Do you thrive on creating an overview, finding solutions and staying calm when daily life changes? And are you motivated by being close to children and young people who need stable, secure and present adults?
Then you may be our new shift planner with a pedagogical function and warm hands at the Children and Youth Home Vesterlund.
We are looking for an employee who can balance planning and practice. You must be able to ensure that working time rules, resources and the employees’ everyday life hang together, while you are ready to step into the pedagogical work when the need arises.
With us, shift planning is not just an administrative task. It is a key function that contributes to creating stability, predictability and safe frames for both children, young people and staff. Therefore we seek a colleague who both has a sense of structure and a heart for people.
Who are we?
Vesterlund is a children’s and youth home with room for 12 children and young people aged 2-18 years. We work every day to create a safe, caring and development-oriented environment for children and young people who can no longer live at home and who have often experienced neglect and unstable life conditions. Therefore relationships, professionalism, structure and collaboration are central elements in our work.
About the position
As a shift planner, you will be an important part of the daily operations. You will have a central role in creating shift plans that support both the children’s needs, the staff’s working lives and a responsible use of our resources. You will also be a close partner for the department head and have influence on planning and development of the area.
Your tasks will include, among other things
- Developing base plans and current shift plans in close collaboration with the department head.
- Making ongoing adjustments to the shift plans in relation to operations, vacations, courses and other absence.
- Being a sparring partner for management regarding staffing needs and optimal use of resources.
- Contributing to ensuring that planning takes place within applicable agreements and working-time rules.
- Following up on vacations, comp time, senior days and care days.
- Ensuring correct registrations and updated data in the planning systems.
- Contributing to the development and qualification of Vesterlund’s work with shift planning.
Shift planning at Vesterlund is not just about making shifts fit. It is about creating coherence, being proactive and finding good solutions when daily life changes.
The pedagogical function
The children at Vesterlund need calm, curious and secure adults who can meet them with care, stability and understanding. The position implies that you are adaptable, flexible and prepared to switch between the role as shift planner and the pedagogical function when the need calls for it. You should therefore be eager and willing to actively participate in working with the children and young people who live at Vesterlund.
Working hours will as a rule be during the day, but since the position also includes a pedagogical function, you should expect that working hours can vary and sometimes include day, evening and weekend shifts.
Who are you?
At Vesterlund we place great emphasis on who you are as a person. Therefore we are looking for a colleague who is present, curious and contributes positively to the community.
We are looking for someone who takes joint responsibility for both the children’s well-being and the shared task-solving. Someone who wants to be an active part of the house’s daily life and can create calm, security and stability in a daily life that can be complex and variable at times.
We also seek that you
- Have experience with shift planning, preferably via Optima or other complex planning.
- Work in a structured and systematic way with attention to detail without losing the holistic perspective.
- Have knowledge of agreements and working-time rules or a willingness and ability to quickly learn the area.
- Are good at collaborating and communicating with employees, leaders and other partners.
- Can work independently and make decisions within your own area of responsibility.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that tasks are followed through to the end.
It would be an advantage if you have experience with Optima , but the most important thing is that you understand complex planning and are eager to learn our systems and workflows.
