About the job
When stable operation requires technical understanding and overview
Do you want to work closely with the technology and play a central role when some of Denmark's most critical financial systems are challenged?
We are expanding our Situation Management team to be even stronger in handling larger IT incidents – both now and in the future. Therefore we seek a Situation Manager who can create overview, bring the right people together and drive a situation towards a solution.
Maybe you are an experienced Situation Manager who has stood in the middle of complex Major Incidents many times before. But you may also be earlier in your career and e.g. come from IT operations, operations, support, infrastructure or another technical environment and want to develop towards Situation Management.
The most important for us is that you have tech-DNA, technical curiosity and a desire to understand what happens under the surface – while you thrive in coordinating people and creating momentum when pace is high.
Close to the technology when it matters
You will become part of Service Delivery , a team of 14 colleagues with both Bankdata seniority and newer profiles. We work with stability and development of Bankdata's operations environments and with central disciplines including Incident, Problem and Change Management.
The area is also under development. As we implement ServiceNow we examine our processes and tools, and we increasingly work with automation, observability and AIOps for, among other things, earlier detection, validation of alerts and better insight into incidents.
As Situation Manager you help take control when larger IT incidents occur. You do not necessarily have to be able to solve the technical problem yourself, but you must be able to understand the technical dialogue, ask the right questions and ensure that the right specialists are brought together .
These could be specialists within applications, networks, servers, cloud, mainframe or security – both internally at Bankdata and with our suppliers.
You bring the threads together and drive the situation forward
When a major incident occurs, you are the one who helps create structure in the complexity. You maintain focus on momentum and ensure that everyone works from the same picture of the situation.
Your main tasks will be to
- monitor and handle larger IT operational disruptions and incidents
- coordinate technical teams and suppliers and drive Major Incidents toward a solution
- facilitate war rooms and create structure, direction and momentum
- understand the technical problem and ask the questions that bring us closer to cause and solution
- ensure clear and relevant communication to technical teams, management, customers and other stakeholders
- escalate and involve the right specialists and decision-makers when the situation requires
- facilitate Post Incident Reviews and contribute to Root Cause Analysis and learning after incidents
- be involved in developing playbooks, runbooks and our other ways of working with Situation Management
- contribute to the development of automation, observability and AIOps-supported processes
- participate in the team's other work to develop and mature our operating processes.
You will also be part of a 24/7 on-call shift in rotation with the other Situation Managers . The on-call duty and any call-outs are billed separately according to the applicable collective agreement.
The first year you build your technical understanding and your network
No one expects you to know Bankdata's complex IT landscape from day one.
During your first 6–12 months you will therefore build a solid understanding of our IT platforms, applications and operating environments and get to know the technical teams and our partners well.
You will gradually take a more central role in handling larger incidents and build your professional authority as the one who can maintain overview, gather the right people and create momentum.
If you are earlier in your career, you will have experienced colleagues around you who can help you build your Situation Management toolbox. If you come with solid experience, you will have the opportunity to bring it into play from the start and help develop the way we work.
There are several entry routes into the role
We are not looking for one specific education or one specific CV.
You can already work with Situation Management, Major Incident Management or Service Management. But you can also come from e.g. IT operations, operations, support, infrastructure, cloud or another technical environment where you have gained an understanding of how complex IT systems hang together.
Perhaps you have many years of experience. Perhaps you are still relatively early in your career. For us, your technical foundation, your curiosity and your potential are at least as important as the number of years on your CV.
We particularly emphasize that you
- have a good general technology understanding and interest in both applications and infrastructure
- are curious about technology and want to understand contexts and root causes
- can create structure and overview, even when pace is high
- act and take initiative when a situation requires
- can bring specialists together around a common task without having to be the deepest specialist
- clearly and confidently communicate in both Danish and English
- thrive with many stakeholders and collaboration across teams and suppliers.
If you have experience with e.g. ServiceNow, ITIL, observability, monitoring tools or AIOps , that is interesting – but we do not expect you to be able to check all boxes.
Be part of developing the future of Situation Management
At Bankdata you get a role close to some of the systems that every day are crucial for Danish banks and their customers.
At the same time you join an area in development. We do not just want to be good at reacting when something goes wrong. We want to become even better at detecting incidents earlier, using data and automation smarter and learning systematically from the situations we experience .
You will therefore have the opportunity to develop both your technical understanding and your competencies within Situation Management – and to help shape how the area should function going forward.
