About the job

Are you an educator or have relevant experience and good at creating structure and coming up with activities based on the child's interests? Then this could be the job for you.

About the task

You will be an important support for a 6-year-old girl with autism and anxiety. She has a good language, but needs a clear and predictable approach that creates security and an overview.

The girl loves music, dance and obstacle courses, which you help to invent and build. She also enjoys playing in the game universe (Roblox), which she is interested in. Your task is to take the initiative for play and activities as well as come up with ideas and small prompts that she can build the play on. It is an important part of creating a good relationship and a safe interaction.

She needs fixed routines, recognizability and structure. She is easily influenced by sensory experiences, and therefore it is important that you can read her needs and plan activities and breaks so that the day becomes manageable. Time Timer is used as support, among other things.

There may eventually be a need for support related to toilet visits when a safe and trusting relationship has been established.

The girl has separation anxiety, and therefore a longer onboarding period should be expected. During this period one of the parents will be at home while the relationship with you is built.

About you

You are educated as an educator or have experience with children with special needs. You preferably have knowledge of autism and anxiety as well as experience in creating structure and safe boundaries in a 1:1 relationship.

You work calmly and patiently and must be able to take the initiative for play and activities. You are able to adapt the activities to the child's needs and daily form and are good at building a trusting relationship through an acknowledging, clear and predictable approach.

It is important that you are a non-smoker and refrain from using perfume when you are at work, as the child’s senses are very sensitive.

Working hours

The position is for a total of 58 hours per month.

The working days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 12-17, and every other weekend between 9-16.

The hours are usually distributed across shifts of 3 hours. Fridays and weekends may be 5-6 hours.

The specific working hours are agreed with the family.

The family also hopes that the working hours can occasionally be arranged so that there is also an opportunity for some evening shifts.

We offer

You will be part of an ambitious company with many engaged colleagues. You have a fixed advisor whom you can always get sparring from. Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Agreement for handicapped assistance in citizens' own homes (minus BPA) entered into between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and work injury insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.

You receive relevant introduction and ongoing upskilling - and you cannot help but develop yourself both personally and professionally when you work with people here at DUOS.
