About us The school is located close to Amager's nature, where we have Amagerfælled in the backyard and a close collaboration with Tårnby Nature School. We have every opportunity to move teaching out of the classroom and into nature. Skelgårdsskolen is a large public school with about 900 pupils and a total staff of about 120. The staff work in year teams with scheduled time for team collaboration.

Salary and employment terms

Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with the Danish Teachers’ Union after negotiation.

In Tårnby Municipality we, in collaboration with DLF, District 13, offer an introductory program for newly qualified teachers and kindergarten class leaders. The introductory program consists of three theme afternoons and a 'Know your municipality' event. For the first two years as a newly qualified teacher you have reduced teaching time, and at all schools there is a mentor scheme. We take care to give you a good start to your teaching career.

The municipality's hiring policy means that references from previous and current workplaces are obtained at the time of hire. If you have been employed in Tårnby Municipality, a reference will always be taken here. In addition, a criminal record check and a child protection check must be presented upon hire. The employment will be contingent on these being satisfactory.
