Social-pedagogical staff sought for Mellemstoppet

Would you like to help create safe and developing environments for children and young people who need a special social-pedagogical intervention? Can you see yourself in a dynamic professional environment where relationships, structure and development are at the center, and where no two days are the same? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for at Mellemstoppet.

Who are we?

MellemStoppet is a social-pedagogical children’s and youth home, which is part of Carelink Bosteder. The children’s and youths’ home’s overarching goal is to develop the children’s and young people’s competencies and skills, as well as provide them with a safe and caring home. At Mellemstoppet we want this social-pedagogical work to take place in a safe, present and caring environment, where relationship and empowerment go hand in hand.

In all our houses we strive to create as homely and safe environments as possible. We want children and young people to experience their surroundings as a place where they can feel safe, have the opportunity to be themselves and experience a daily life that as far as possible resembles an ordinary home. The physical surroundings are therefore an important part of our overall pedagogical effort and support our focus on well-being, relationships and development.

Mellemstoppet is growing and is currently undergoing approval for a new house in Nyborg Municipality with space for 6 children and young people, which will form the framework for a more specialized department.

The new department is under approval with a target group consisting of children and young people aged 5-17 years, where the target group will among other things be characterized by:

· Neglect

· Developmental disability, including mild intellectual disability

· Autism spectrum disorders

· Attention disorders

We work from a human-centered perspective where every person has value and resources, and where the pedagogical and social-pedagogical approach must always base itself on the individual child’s or young person’s prerequisites, needs and developmental possibilities.

About the job

We are seeking social-pedagogical and pedagogical staff with a solid professional background and preferably experience with children and young people within the target group.

Your background can be pedagogical and/or health-professional, and it is advantageous if you have knowledge of and experience with specialized pedagogical approaches and methods such as Low Arousal as well as neuro- and autism pedagogy.

You must thrive in close relational work with children and young people and at the same time take pride in supporting their development at a high professional level.

At Mellemstoppet we work systematically and purposefully with the individual, and you will be an important part of translating professional assessments and development goals into concrete, practical pedagogical actions in daily life.

As an employee you will be part of a team where we work closely together on the task and base ourselves on the department's methodological approaches and the individual child’s or young person’s special needs. In daily life you report to the department head.

Work will be arranged with day, evening and night shifts as well as shifts on weekdays, weekends and occasional public holidays. Since we are a children’s and youth home, we are open year-round.

There is talk of a job where you must be professionally well-equipped for the task, be naturally curious about your own and others’ professionalism and be able to translate professional knowledge into action.

You must be able to thrive in a daily life that can be changeable and require you to take responsibility and act on the challenges that arise. At the same time you must be able to assess when to reach out for sparring and help from a colleague or supervisor.

As Mellemstoppet is in development, you will also have the opportunity to help shape and develop the new department, its professional culture and the pedagogical practice.

We expect from you

  • That you have knowledge of and preferably experience in working with socially vulnerable children and young people, as well as their families and networks.
  • That you have a relevant pedagogical or health-professional education and preferably relevant experience with the target group.
  • That you have an interest in or experience with autism, developmental disability, attention disorders and/or neglect.
  • That you have knowledge of pedagogical approaches such as Low arousal as well as neuro- and autism pedagogy – or are keen to develop your competences in the area.
  • That you can work independently, be proactive and plan your own time, as well as follow up and complete the tasks you start.
  • That you can see yourself joining a team where things sometimes move quickly, and where we lift together.
  • That you are flexible and responsible and possess a high degree of openness and patience.
  • That you can stay overviewed and work professionally in conflict-filled or challenging situations.
  • That you have a strong commitment and are passionate about making a difference for children and young people who need a special intervention.
  • That you think in a holistic way and can engage in both internal and external collaborative relations.
  • That you can approach your tasks systematically and structured.
  • That you are good at observing, documenting and reflecting on your practice on a professionally sound basis.
  • That you want to help develop a department and actively contribute to its professional culture.
  • That you have a clean police and child protection clearance.
  • That you have a driving licence.

We offer

  • An organization in development where professionalism and integrity are highly valued.
  • The opportunity to be part of Mellemstoppet's continued development and the establishment of a new, specialized department.
  • A workplace with good colleagues characterized by high professional standards, strong engagement and ambitions.
  • A professional environment where there is focus on sparring, supervision and competence development.
  • The opportunity to make your professional mark on the development of the new department and the pedagogical practice.
  • A daily life where relationships, professionalism and development go hand in hand.
  • A daily life that is never the same.
  • A meaningful job where you every day help create the best possible conditions for children and young people who need adults who can make a difference.
