About the job

We are expanding in Housing First and are therefore seeking new staff for our specialized ICM supported housing effort for previously homeless people.

About us

ICM is part of Copenhagen Municipality's Housing First offer. All initiatives share the goal of supporting particularly vulnerable citizens in the transition from homelessness to their own housing – and not least in maintaining the housing and creating a more independent and meaningful life. Housing First methods work holistically and individually with a basis in a recovery and rehabilitative approach.

The ICM method is a long-term, open-ended effort. Citizens who are connected to ICM are only to a limited extent able to use existing offers. ICM offers citizens individual social and practical support, based on the citizen's needs, hopes and dreams for their own life, and from this supports the individual's path towards a more independent life and a greater connection to ordinary society. Citizens referred to ICM may have substance abuse and psychiatric issues.

As an ICM employee you work closely with, among others, caseworkers, substance treatment, psychiatry, hospital, doctor, job center, home care, the Prison and Probation Service and voluntary organizations.

Read the ICM method manual for use in the homelessness area here .

Your tasks

  • support the citizen in creating a meaningful life in their own housing
  • support the citizen’s path toward greater independence
  • collaborate with the citizen on the content and planning of the housing support
  • investigate and test the citizen’s wishes, ideas and possibilities for the future
  • support the citizen in creating or rebuilding relationships, when desired
  • coordinate and cooperate with relevant authorities, services and networks
  • create coherence between the different interventions around the citizen.

A little about you

You have a relevant social-work education such as social worker, social pedagogue. Your background is not the only decisive factor, but the combination of education and experience. You approach the work with people who are socially vulnerable, citizens who have been homeless for a long time, and citizens who have been in institutions and shelters with great enthusiasm. You are personally and professionally equipped to work with citizens in particularly vulnerable positions.

You have experience with the target group and can collaborate to improve opportunities and quality of life on the citizen's terms, thereby supporting the citizen’s recovery process. You have curiosity about the citizens' lives and their wishes for the future. It is an advantage if you have knowledge of the city's offers to homeless people, employment, activation, substance treatment, etc.

You can see the importance of working closely with partners, voluntary organizations, leisure activities, shelters and others who can be important in the individual citizen's life and well-being in their own housing.

We value

  • meet the citizen with trust, acceptance and respect
  • have experience with the concepts of recovery and rehabilitation, and can translate this into action in working with citizens – we offer training in recovery
  • contribute to a good work environment in citizen work
  • have experience with working with particularly vulnerable citizens
  • can structure and plan your workday in an efficient way
  • have good collaboration skills, and can see the potential in collaborating with other actors in the vulnerable sector
  • thrive in a varied and sometimes unpredictable work environment.

We offer

  • a workplace with room to grow, where the work environment and professional development are in focus
  • a challenging and varied job where days rarely look the same
  • a colleagues group with great adaptability in the work and helpfulness towards each other
  • professional diversity, where different professional backgrounds and competencies contribute to the common task solving
  • opportunity for exercise during working hours – we are city-wide and cycle between tasks.

You will become part of the new Housing First offer, where several initiatives for previously homeless citizens have been gathered under one roof and which is in rapid development.

Salary and employment terms

The positions are permanent with a 37-hour work week. We would like you to start on December 1, 2026 or by agreement. Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement, though not the academics’ agreement. Pay is determined within the framework of local pay formation. Working hours are during the day, but it is expected that you demonstrate flexibility regarding late meetings. In connection with the appointments we will perform criminal record checks and take references.
