About the job
The Day Centre at Stejlhøjhus, Elise Sørensensvej 2, 4400 Kalundborg, is looking for a social educator for 25 hours per week for a maternity leave replacement. There is also a possibility for an additional 7 hours at a residence in Center 1 on Fridays during daytime.
20 service users and 4 staff at Dagcentret Stejlhøjhus are seeking a caring, spacious and empathetic social educator with a fundamental curiosity and interest in the social-pedagogical work with people with special needs. Perhaps you already have experience from the specialist area?
Employment is expected to commence around 21 January 2027.
Who are we?
Dagcentret Stejlhøj §104 is a activity and social interaction offer for 20 service users and 4 staff. We are part of the Social Adult Area, Center 1, which includes several residential care facilities, social and activity offers as well as sheltered employment. Work is conducted across different projects and tasks in Center 1, which is a natural part of our multidisciplinary collaboration.
You will become part of a work and everyday life with the citizens at Dagcentret Stejlhøjhus, where we are open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 14:30.
The target group consists of people with a wide range of disabilities, interests and needs. A common denominator, however, is that most require support for personal care due to severe functional impairments, and that nonverbal language constitutes the primary mode of communication. There may occasionally be a need for support and guidance through conflict situations.
Throughout Stejlhøjhus we work across the building with different projects and activities based on the citizens' interests, where the disability is not the decisive factor. Everyone has the right to a good life despite disability. There is also a shared citizens' council across our three sites, where self-determination and co-determination are in the foreground.
What can you expect?
The core task in the Social Adult Area and Dagcentret generally consists of providing help and support for all life tasks in a way that the citizens experience the greatest possible quality of life, joy, and self- and co-determination.
More concretely, your work will involve providing pedagogical support, guidance, care and nursing to our citizens. This includes, among other things, transfers, assistance with personal hygiene and eating, medication administration, planning and carrying out pedagogical activities as well as professional analysis and sparring on pedagogical and psychological issues.
We use, among other things, sign language (TTT), picture communication and other alternative communication forms in interaction with the citizens.
Your profile
What do we expect from you?
That you...
- are tolerant, caring, present and acknowledging in your relationships with the citizens and have a genuine interest in people with disabilities.
- can read and understand each individual citizen's prerequisites and needs and plan your pedagogical approach accordingly.
- have experience with or an interest in pedagogical work with people with physical and mental functional impairments.
- can work preventively with conflicts based on Low Arousal, remain calm and reduce frustrations and conflicts among the citizens.
- are consciously aware of your own communication and can adapt it to the individual citizen through verbal language, body language and demeanor.
- can learn to interpret citizens' individual nonverbal signals. Experience with sign language is an advantage, but not a requirement.
- are collaborative and seek dialogue and understanding of colleagues' perspectives. You respect others' views and actively contribute to our shared core task around the citizens.
- participate actively in sparring meetings and professional discussions where we work with dilemmas from pedagogical practice and continuously develop our collaboration.
- can balance between respect for existing structures and cultures and a curiosity for new ideas and development opportunities.
- are clear about tasks related to personal care.
- can and will work systematically with the digital documentation system KMD Nexus, including milestones and status descriptions.
- work in a structured and planning-focused way with emphasis on the citizens' needs and the social-pedagogical effort.
- value good collaboration with relatives and see relatives as an important resource in the citizen's life.
- contribute to a good psychological work environment with a positive approach to work life.
- are physically and mentally robust.
- have a driver's license and can drive a minibus for shopping, excursions and transport of citizens
Why should you choose us
Because...
- working at Stejlhøj gives you the opportunity to form unique and life-affirming relationships with fantastic people who need your help every day.
- you will have colleagues who are welcoming, experienced and willingly share their knowledge. You will become part of a work community where we together create the best possible quality of life for the citizens.
- you will have the opportunity for an introductory program and internal courses in Center 1.
- you will have a high degree of freedom with responsibility.
- you will have a department head who works value-based and appreciative, gives co-responsibility to staff and expects us to lift the core task with the citizens at the center.
- you will have a daily life filled with activities together with the citizens, and if you have new ideas, we are happy to receive them.
- you will become part of an organization with a strong professional identity and values associated with the rehabilitative and neuro-pedagogical approach to people with physical and mental functional impairments, where the citizen's wishes, dreams and co-determination form the basis for the pedagogical effort.
