About the job
Do you want to use your health professional expertise to make a tangible difference for children and young people with complex disabilities? Are you keen to be close to the children while also supporting colleagues through guidance, teaching and professional sparring? And are you motivated by helping to develop quality and patient safety? Then you may be exactly who we need.
About the workplace
Child disability consists of three offers on two sites in Aabenraa
- The Children’s and Youth Home Posekær is a 24/7 facility for children and young people aged 0–18 with space for 26 resident children and youths distributed across four groups.
- Børnehuset Lille Kolstrup – Respite care has 10 places and currently provides respite to 43 children and young people aged 0–18.
- Børnehuset Lille Kolstrup – The kindergarten is a special kindergarten licensed for 16 children aged 0–6.
Children and young people have varied and often complex functional impairments, including multiple disabilities, autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy and cognitive problems.
What unites our work is that we want to create safe, developmental and professionally qualified frameworks for each child and each young person. This requires close cooperation between health professionals and pedagogical staff, management, families and external partners.
You will become part of our health professional team, which works across Child Disability and plays a central role in ensuring and developing the health professional quality.
About the job
As a social and health care assistant you will have an important professional role across our offers. You do not have managerial responsibility, but you are together with your colleagues in the health professional team helping to set the direction for health professional practice.
You must want to be visible and close to practice. You will go out into the houses and groups, where you observe, guide and support the staff and contribute to translating health professional knowledge, instructions and prescriptions into safe and qualified practice around the individual child.
A significant part of the job is health professional documentation. You work systematically with the 12 nursing-related problem areas and with developing, evaluating and adjusting individual care plans. The documentation must not only be in order – it must be an active tool that supports coherence, quality and patient safety.
Periodically there may be terminal care. Here we collaborate with, among others, the Child Palliative Team at OUH, Sønderjylland Hospital and Aabenraa Home Nursing.
Your tasks
You will mainly
- provide health professional care and nursing to children and young people with complex disabilities
- ensure high quality health professional documentation, medication management and charting
- draft, evaluate and follow up on care plans and health professional interventions
- train, teach and guide colleagues, including medication management, personal hygiene, tube care, suction and CPAP
- support staff in translating health professional instructions and prescriptions into daily practice
- actively participate in interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration with children, families, colleagues, management and external partners
We offer
With us you get
- a position where your health professional skills have direct relevance for children and young people with complex needs
- a professionally strong health professional team with the possibility for close sparring and reflection
- a thorough introduction and training in the child disability area
- an opportunity to influence the development of health professional practice and quality across Child Disability
- supervision by an external psychologist and opportunities for continuing education and internal and external courses
- a workplace where health professional and pedagogical expertise meet, and where we actively work with learning, development and quality.
About you
We expect that you
- are educated as a social and health care assistant
- can work independently, systematically and in a structured way with health professional tasks
- have experience with health professional documentation and can work with the 12 nursing-related problem areas as well as care plans
- can maintain calm, overview and decisiveness in complex and pressured situations
- have good collaboration and communication skills and are enthusiastic about teaching and guiding colleagues
We also emphasize that you meet children, families and colleagues with respect, empathy and integrity, and that you are curious about both your own and others’ practice.
It is advantageous if you
- have experience from the disability sector, the special education sector and/or psychiatry
- have experience with children and young people with complex health professional needs
- have knowledge of, among other things, tube care, suction and CPAP
- have experience with teaching and professional guidance of colleagues
However, the most important is that you want to learn and actively bring your health professional skills into play together with others.
