About the job

Do you want to make a difference for young people in Roskilde? Are you good at creating contact with young people who do not actively seek the municipality's offers? And do you thrive working at street level, where the young people hang out? Then we would very much like to hear from you.

In the children and youth area in Roskilde we work from the vision that all children and young people should thrive and become whole individuals. All children and young people have abilities and competencies that they should have the opportunity to unfold and develop – both individually and in community with others.

We are seeking a socially proactive employee who will help translate the vision into practice and contribute to preventing distress, marginalisation and crime among children and young people in Roskilde Municipality.

You will be attached to the department, Youth Contact, which consists of contact persons and a substance abuse consultant - in total three socially proactive employees. Your daily work is planned in collaboration with the municipality's SSP consultant, and you will therefore become part of a close collaboration with SSP, the club area, schools, educational institutions, associations and other relevant actors.

You work primarily without a fixed base on the streets and in other places where young people spend time. Your physical base is at Rådhusbuen 3 in Roskilde.

The target group is children and young people, including young people who are in or on their way into exposed or marginalised communities. You must build trustful relationships, detect warning signs, and support the young people in finding their way to healthy communities and meaningful activities.

The work includes both contact with individuals and groups, as well as observation and assessment of group dynamics, conflicts and trends in the street scene. You must document relevant knowledge and share it professionally and in compliance with the law with the appropriate partners.

You also function as a bridge builder between the young people, their parents and networks and relevant services. The position includes participation in cross-disciplinary collaboration forums and special initiatives at, for example, the last day of school, youth parties, concerts and other events.

We expect

  • That you have an educational, social-work or other relevant qualification.
  • That you have experience with outreach and relationship-based work with young people in vulnerable positions.
  • That you have knowledge about adolescents' well-being, marginalisation and crime prevention.
  • That you can build trust with both individual youths and groups and have an eye for their resources and development opportunities.
  • That you can maintain calm and overview in pressurised or conflict-filled situations.
  • That you work independently and flexibly while actively contributing to interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • That you have knowledge of the rules on confidentiality, note-taking, data protection and mandatory reporting, and can document your work systematically.
  • It is an advantage if you have a driving licence.

We offer

  • A workplace in professional and organizational development.
  • A meaningful and varied job with a high degree of independence and responsibility.
  • Influence on your own practice and the joint task solution.
  • A close cross-disciplinary collaboration with engaged colleagues and partners.
  • Opportunity to develop and implement preventive initiatives and activities.
  • Professional sparring, supervision and ongoing competence development.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is a permanent contract for 37 hours per week and remunerated according to the applicable collective agreement.

Working hours are flexible and arranged according to the target group's activities and the current tasks. The position includes weekly evening work as well as work on weekends and at special events.

The work mainly takes place on the street with a physical base at Rådhusbuen 3, 4000 Roskilde.

Criminal record and child safeguarding checks as well as references are obtained in connection with the appointment.
