About the job
We are looking for social educators (socialpædagoger) for several of our longer-term residential facilities in the autism sector. When you apply, you are in the running for multiple positions. Together we will find the workplace that best fits your wishes, your experience and the everyday life you want to have.
You can read about the individual residential facilities on socialjob.kk.dk and see where there are current vacancies .
Close to the residents and everyday life
In the autism sector you work with adults who need skilled and present professionals around them. The majority of citizens have a diagnosis on the autism spectrum, while others may have, for example, developmental disabilities or functional impairments.
There are differences between the residential facilities, but a commonality for the residents is that they need the structure and predictability of autism pedagogy in order to thrive as well as possible. You will play an important role in creating safe frameworks and a meaningful everyday life for each individual.
' You will become part of an area with many opportunities and great diversity. There may be a lot of personal care at one place, while there is a resident who needs support to get a driving license at another ', says Christian Bach Birkshøj, head of the autism area.

The role of social educator in the autism area
The work is both pedagogical and caring. You must support the citizens' development and independence. The residential facilities are long-term, and several have smaller resident groups. This gives you the opportunity to build close relationships and follow residents' development over time.
We are the citizens' safe bastion. We go all the way around the person because we are here all the time. In this way, we help make a huge difference for some vulnerable people who are not often seen in public debate or society.

Your tasks may include
- supporting residents in their development and independence
- collaboration with relatives and interdisciplinary partners
- documenting and evaluating the pedagogical effort
- actively contributing to the development of pedagogical practice.
You will become a fixed part of the residents' everyday life—from activities and daily living to pedagogical development measures. Personal care therefore also features. Some residents may have self-harming or outwardly acting behavior. This requires you to stay calm, read the situation, and act professionally and competently. You meet the residents as independent adults and support them in having as much say as possible in their own everyday lives.
You will become part of a multidisciplinary work community, where your pedagogical skills combine with the health care disciplines.
A strong professional community
We have a high degree of specialization within autism pedagogy and a common professional foundation on which you can build further. We discuss professional questions and learn from each other, and at all residential facilities we have health and social work sparring partners.
We work, among other things, with autism pedagogy, Low Arousal 2 – supported and recovery-oriented rehabilitation to create structure, predictability and safe frames around the residents.
We are looking for you who
- are educated as a social educator
- can support residents in personal care and daily activities in a respectful and caring way
- thrive on working closely and relationally with people over a longer period.
You do not need to have experience with the autism area. The most important thing is that you want to learn, are curious about the residents' perspective and can see the value in combining health care professionalism and pedagogy.
You will be well prepared
All new employees receive thorough onboarding with, for example, a mentor and introductory shifts, where you get to know residents and routines together with experienced colleagues.
In addition, you will attend a five-day training in autism pedagogy, where you will be introduced to the pedagogical methods we work with.
