About the job
Do you want to help educate the next generation of social workers and shape the development of an education in transition? Then you may be our new colleague.
At the Institute for Social Work Education at the University College of Copenhagen (KP) we are looking for engaged assistant professors or lecturers with a strong social science profile who want to help shape the future social work education. You are passionate about teaching, development and research – and about making a difference in interaction with colleagues, students and the practice field.
We are in the middle of an exciting change process. The new social work education calls for development of new learning forms, professional coherence and progression as well as a close link to the practice field. Therefore we are seeking engaged colleagues with solid practical experience from the social sector – preferably with profiles in e.g. children, youth, vulnerable adults and employment.
About the job
You will be part of an engaged and interdisciplinary team consisting of teachers with backgrounds in social work, law, psychology and social sciences. Our main tasks include development and delivery of teaching, supervision and conducting examinations.
The Institute for Social Work Education houses a strong and well-established research and development environment with a focus on practice-oriented and professional projects relevant both for the education and for the social practice field.
In the job you will, among other things
- Teach and supervise students and contribute to their professional and personal development
- Develop and test teaching methods, including differentiated instruction and workshop-based teaching, that strengthen the students' learning
- Participate in research and development projects closely linked to practice and meaningful for both the education and social work
- Contribute to continuing education and further education, including diploma programs and practice-oriented courses targeted at professionals
- Engage in close collegial collaboration in teaching teams and across the organisation
About you
You have a basic education as a social worker combined with a relevant academic qualification – e.g. cand.soc., cand.soc.jur., cand.pæd.psyk. or a master's program within the social area.
Additionally we expect that you
- Have solid practical experience from the social sector and a strong understanding of the conditions and complexity of the profession
- Have teaching experience and/or are skilled at communicating professional knowledge in an engaging and accessible way
- Possess good relationship skills and are passionate about supporting and strengthening students' professional development
- Are eager to contribute to research and development in close interaction with the practice field
- Are structured and flexible with the ability to plan and prioritise in a busy and sometimes unpredictable everyday life
We also would like you to have familiarity with the framework of professional education programs and be motivated to contribute to an education in rapid development.
About us
The Social Work Education at KP is a large and dynamic educational environment with high professional standards, strong collegiality and close contact with practice. We focus on increasing study intensity, differentiated teaching and profession-oriented learning – and we work purposefully to adapt our teaching and organisation to the upcoming reform.
With us you get
- A thorough onboarding and mentoring scheme that ensures a good start in the role of teacher
- Opportunity to develop your teaching competences, including through a lecturer qualification program
- Access to an well-established research and development environment with strong links to practice
- An engaged and supportive collegial community with professional sparring in teams
We can offer a job with a high degree of influence, and you can expect flexibility in your work planning and the possibility of home working.
We have a view of the city with Carlsberg Station and other good transport options nearby.
Salary and terms of employment
You will be employed as an assistant professor or lecturer starting on 1 January 2027. The working hours are 37 hours per week.
Employment is according to the applicable collective agreement in the state sector and with reference to Executive Order no. 414 of 27 April 2025 on the job structure for teachers at business academies, professional teaching colleges, etc. The specific collective agreement depends on your educational background and will as a rule be based on either the Academic Collective Agreement or the Joint Agreement for LC and CO10. There will be the possibility to negotiate qualification supplements.
If you are employed as an assistant professor, you will join KP's lecturer qualification program .
Employment as a lecturer requires a positive lecturer assessment under the regulations on lecturer qualification, cf. Executive Order no. 413 of 27 April 2025.
When employed as a lecturer, if the lecturer assessment was done before the 2013 position structure, employment will generally be at the previously centrally fixed salary and employment terms. Depending on the specific circumstances, a renewed lecturer assessment under the current position structure (fast-track arrangement) could possibly be agreed.
The workplace is located at Humletorvet 3, 1799 København V.
