About the job
Social-pedagogical and educational staff sought for Mellemstoppet
Do you want to help create safe and developmental environments for children and young people who need a special social-pedagogical and educational effort? Can you see yourself in a dynamic professional environment where relationships, structure and development are at the core, and where no two days are the same? Then perhaps you are the person we are looking for at Mellemstoppet.
Who are we?
Mellemstoppet is a social-pedagogical children’s and youth home, which is part of Carelink Bosteder. The overarching goal of the Children’s and Youth Home is to develop the competencies and skills of the children and young people, and to provide them with a safe and caring home. At Mellemstoppet we want this social-pedagogical work to take place in a safe, present and caring environment, where relationships and empowerment go hand in hand.
In all our houses we strive to create the most homely and safe settings possible. We want children and young people to experience their surroundings as a place where they can feel safe, have the opportunity to be themselves and experience a daily life that, as far as possible, resembles an ordinary home. The physical framework is therefore an important part of our overall pedagogical effort and supports our focus on well-being, relationships and development.
Mellemstoppet is growing and is currently undergoing approval for a new house in Nyborg Municipality with space for 6 children and young people, which will form the framework of a more specialized department.
The new department is under approval with a target group consisting of children and young people aged 5-17, where the target group will among other things be characterized by:
· Child abuse
· Developmental disability, including mild mental retardation
· Autism spectrum disorders
· Attention disorders
We work from a humanistic view where every person has value and resources, and where the pedagogical and social-pedagogical approach always should be based on the individual child’s or young person’s prerequisites, needs and development possibilities.
About the job
We are seeking social-pedagogical and educational staff with a strong professional background and preferably experience with children and young people within the target group.
Your background may be pedagogical and/or health-science oriented, and it is an advantage if you have knowledge of and experience with specialized pedagogical approaches and methods such as Low Arousal as well as neuro- and autism-pedagogy.
You should thrive in close relational work with children and young people and at the same time take pride in supporting their development at a high professional level.
At Mellemstoppet we work systematically and purposefully with the individual, and you will be an important part of translating professional assessments and development goals into concrete, practical pedagogical actions in daily life.
As an employee you will be part of a team where we work closely together on the task and take our starting point in the department’s methodological approaches and the individual child’s or young person’s particular needs. You report to the department manager in daily operations.
The work will be organized with night shifts and evening shifts as well as shifts on weekdays, weekends and some holidays. As we are a children’s and youth home, we are open year-round.
This is a job where you need to be professionally well-prepared for the task, naturally curious about your own and others’ professionalism, and able to translate professional knowledge into action.
You must be able to thrive in a day-to-day that can be changeable and require you to take responsibility and act on the challenges that arise. At the same time you must be able to assess when you should seek sparring and help from a colleague or supervisor.
As Mellemstoppet is in development, you will also have the opportunity to help shape and develop the new department, its professional culture and the pedagogical practice.
What we expect from you
- That you have knowledge of and preferably experience with working with socially vulnerable children and young people as well as their families and networks.
- That you have a relevant pedagogical or health-science education and preferably relevant experience with the target group.
- That you have interest in or experience with autism, developmental disabilities, attention disorders and/or child abuse.
- That you have knowledge of pedagogical approaches such as Low Arousal and neuro- and autism-pedagogy – or are eager to develop your competences in the area.
- That you can work independently, be proactive and plan your own time as well as follow up and complete the things you start.
- That you can see yourself joining a team where things can move quickly, and where we lift in unison.
- That you are flexible and responsible and possess a high degree of tolerance and patience.
- That you can maintain overview and work professionally in conflictful or challenging situations.
- That you have strong engagement and passion for making a difference for children and young people who need a special effort.
- That you think holistically and can engage in both internal and external cooperation relations.
- That you can approach your tasks systematically and structured.
- That you are good at observing, documenting and reflecting on your practice on a professionally sound basis.
- That you want to help develop a department and actively contribute to the professional culture.
- That you have a clean criminal and child protection record.
- That you have a driving license.
We offer
- An organization in development where professionalism and integrity are highly valued.
- The opportunity to become part of Mellemstoppet’s continued development and the building of a new specialized department.
- An workplace with good colleagues, characterized by high professional standard, strong commitment and ambitions.
- A professional environment with focus on sparring, supervision and competence development.
- Opportunity to make your professional mark on the development of the new department and the pedagogical practice.
- A daily life where relationships, professionalism and development go hand in hand.
- A daily life that is never the same.
- A meaningful job where you contribute daily to creating the best possible conditions for children and young people who need adults who can make a difference.
