Software & Automation Engineer (newly created position)

Would you like to help set the direction for software and automation in our process plants? We are looking for an experienced profile who can combine solid software expertise with practical understanding of machines and plants, and who is motivated by building structure, standards and solutions that can be used across projects.

About the role

As Senior Software & Automation Engineer you will be a central part of R&D and have independent responsibility to develop and integrate our work with industrial software and automation. You will both solve concrete development tasks and create the technical foundation on which our future solutions must be built.

The role suits you who have enough experience to assess needs, choose a technical direction and drive tasks forward without a finished playbook. You must thrive with the fact that not all methods and standards are predefined, and see it as an exciting task to help establish them.

An important part of the job will be to build a shared software platform with a clear architecture, reusable modules and consistent principles for development, testing, version control, documentation and implementation. The goal is robust and scalable solutions that can be used across process plants, machine lines and customer-specific projects.

You will work with the entire process from clarifying requirements and developing concepts to programming, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and continuous optimization. Therefore it is important that you can work structurally with software and understand the practical interaction between PLC, SCADA, electrical and mechanical on a complete plant.

You will become the first employee in SANOVO TECHNOLOGY PROCESS with software and automation as your primary area of responsibility. You will therefore have great influence and room to shape the area. At the same time you will have close sparring with colleagues in R&D, electrical design, projects and service as well as with our colleagues in SANOVO TECHNOLOGY ITALY and our external software consultant.

Your primary areas of work will be

• New and further development of PLC, HMI and SCADA solutions for process plants and complete machine lines
• Definition of software architecture, standards and development principles
• Building and maintaining reusable software modules and a standardized platform
• Establishing working methods and tools for version control, testing, documentation and implementation
• Translating customer requirements into stable solutions based on common standards
• Integration between PLC, SCADA and relevant external systems or cloud solutions
• Testing and commissioning in our test center and at customers
• Technical sparring and support to R&D, projects, service, suppliers and customers
• Development of supplementary software tools, for example for sales calculations and configuration of solutions

The job involves about 20-30 travel days in the first year, after which it is expected to fall to a level around 10-20 annual travel days.

What do we expect from you?

We expect you to have a relevant technical education in software, automation or a related field. It is also a requirement that you have a minimum of 3 years of practical experience with developing industrial software for machines or process plants, and that you have previously worked with solutions from the initial requirements and architecture choices to testing, commissioning and subsequent troubleshooting.

We place great emphasis on your ability to take professional ownership. You must be able to gain overview, make well-founded choices and maintain progress in complex tasks. You work independently, but at the same time share your knowledge, seek sparring when it adds value, and manage to bring relevant colleagues together around a common solution.

We expect you to have specific experience with

• PLC programming, preferably Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley
• Structured software development and building maintainable code
• SCADA and HMI systems
• Software architecture, standardization and reusable modules
• Communication protocols and integration between industrial systems
• Testing, commissioning, systematic troubleshooting and optimization
• Technical documentation, version control and quality assurance

It is an advantage if you also have experience with

• Structured Text as well as understanding of Ladder
• Establishing or further developing a software platform, standards or development methods
• Development of supplementary software tools or integration to cloud solutions

You communicate effortlessly in Danish and English, and can explain technical choices clearly to both specialists and colleagues with other professional backgrounds.
