About the job

Do you want to develop applications that colleagues use for tasks that aren’t available elsewhere? Do you want to help modernize our technical foundation and ensure our solutions are ready for the future? And would you like a role where you can combine your technical depth with a strong personal responsibility? Then you may be our new colleague.

Become part of the work to build systems that support PET’s core mission

As a developer at PET you help build systems that support our core mission: to safeguard Denmark, the Danish Realm and Danish interests abroad.

You will be anchored in the DevOps section, where we work to bring development and operations closer together. Although you do not, as a starting point, belong to a fixed agile team, you are an important part of our technical community. You will work closely with an application specialist and engage in ongoing sparring with our IT partners to ensure that the solutions we build work together with the rest of our landscape.

We are in the middle of an exciting process where we modernize older applications and move toward more modern technologies. We are not looking for a developer to sit with the operations, but a profile that focuses on ensuring that what we build is operable, scalable and robust.

Get a daily life that never becomes routine

It takes IT professionals to defend freedom, people and democracy, and PET is a large IT workplace. Here, Java developers, infrastructure specialists, network technicians, self-taught hackers, firewall specialists and many others with a background in IT work. Some have chosen PET to work on large and complex tasks. Others were drawn to the fact that we design many of our solutions from scratch, develop and implement them. Our colleagues need to use our work, and we are involved from start to finish. Finally, many of us have chosen the job to work on a cause greater than profit and hourly billing.

We have a higher purpose.

Our workplace is unlike any other. As a software developer at PET you will be part of a daily life characterized by tasks that are not found elsewhere, and each day offers new challenges that did not exist yesterday. We have a daily life that never becomes routine, and you can have that too.

This is what your daily life looks like as a software developer in the DevOps section

You will, among other things, spend your time on

  • Develop and modernize: Develop new features and actively work to modernize existing applications.
  • Ensure operability: Think in cloud-native solutions and work with containers and Kubernetes so our systems are robust.
  • Automate deployment: Be an advocate for CI/CD and contribute to making our deployment processes automated and secure.
  • Close technical collaboration: Work with an application specialist and spar with IT partners on solution design and integrations.
  • Solve complex problems: Use your experience to build solutions that are easy to monitor and troubleshoot.
  • Document your work: Ensure that the solutions you build are well-documented and technically transparent.

You won’t succeed alone

Although you have a lot of freedom in your work, you are part of a broader technical whole. Our applications integrate with platforms and infrastructure that others are responsible for. Therefore it is important that you can communicate precisely across professional boundaries and be a colleague that others want to spar with. We place a high value on sharing knowledge and making each other more skilled, and we expect that you both want to learn from others and share your own vast experience with the team.

About you

Your mindset and your willingness to learn mean more to us than a long list of specific tools. You thrive on having the technical responsibility for your tasks and are eager to take charge of the technical development on your own.

You have several years of experience as a developer in the workplace. We are looking for a profile who masters either Java (with Spring Boot, SQL databases and Hibernate) or C# (with .NET and Entity Framework). Please include in your application if you have experience with (or a strong interest in) modernization via cloud, Kubernetes, containers and CI/CD processes.

We are very interested in seeing your code. You are therefore very welcome to attach a link to your GitHub profile or other relevant code samples. We look for your ability to write readable, well-documented and functioning code, as well as your understanding of cloud-native principles.

You understand the value of building solutions with a view to operations. You are analytical and solution-oriented, and you can communicate complex technical issues so that they make sense to both specialists and partners. You thrive on collaboration and contribute positively to common goals, while also working effectively on your own.

We also place high importance on certain personal competences at PET. These are competences that we believe are essential for all PET employees regardless of professional background. We do this because it is important to us that we find the right match. You can read about the competences here www.PET.dk/job.
