Do you want to make it easier for TV 2's product teams to understand how their systems work and to detect problems before they affect users?

As a Software Engineer in Observability, you will develop platforms and tools that give teams better insight through logs, metrics and tracing. Your work contributes to more stable digital products for TV 2 and for Danes.

The team

The Observability team develops shared platforms and tools that help product teams across TV 2 understand and improve the operation of their applications. We combine software development with close dialogue with the teams that use our solutions.

We are curious and pragmatic, share knowledge and spar with each other. We expect that you can both solve tasks independently and reach out for help when necessary, and we place emphasis on being available to colleagues and partners.

The role

You will become part of the Observability team that helps TV 2's product teams understand how their products work, and where there may be operational or security-related risks. We collect and make telemetry and other relevant information available, so teams have a better basis for investigating problems, monitoring their applications and prioritizing improvements.

You work both with the technical platform and with the people who use it. It requires that you can translate needs into usable solutions and communicate what the data shows, and what it does not show.

Your main tasks will be to

• develop and improve platforms and tools that collect and display telemetry, including logs, metrics and traces from TV 2's products.
• work with instrumentation and data quality so product teams gain actionable insight into their applications' behavior, performance and operation.
• contribute to collecting and communicating security-relevant information about products and infrastructure so teams gain better insight into issues that may require attention.
• initiate dialogue with product teams, identify where they lack insight, and translate the needs into improvements in, for example, instrumentation, dashboards, alerts or self-service.
• help the teams get started and follow up on whether the solutions are actually being used.
• develop, test and continuously improve the solutions, share knowledge and contribute with suggestions for the team's priorities.

The team's contribution in the security area is to provide an overview and make relevant information accessible. Handling of security incidents and decisions about security risks remains with the relevant responsible parties.

Your profile

We are looking for an experienced technical profile who can combine software development with an interest in data and an understanding of how products work in practice. You don't need to know all of our tools from day one, but you should have a solid technical foundation, be curious about data, and thrive in collaborating with other teams.

You take responsibility for and can drive defined tasks forward on your own. At the same time you know that good solutions come from collaboration: you ask about others' needs, are happy to share your knowledge and are open to sparring and professional feedback. You are structured and pragmatic, and you spot opportunities to make things smarter for both the team and the organization.

We imagine that you

• have practical experience with software development or a closely related technical field and can translate your technical foundation into solutions.
• have experience with or a solid understanding of telemetry, for example logs, metrics or traces, and understand how data can provide insight into a product's behavior and operation.
• thrive in collaboration and engage in dialogue with other teams to understand their needs and communicate technical possibilities and limitations.
• work on your own but seek sparring when it makes the solution better, and contribute to knowledge sharing and good professional collaboration.
• have good communication and collaboration skills, as you will work with many different people across teams.

Additionally, we imagine that you have experience with observability tools, cloud, Infrastructure-as-Code or security data. You may already know OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus or Armis/CSAM – but the most important thing is that you are curious and eager to learn.
