MAYA Latin Inspired Cuisine is a restaurant located in the vibrant Meatpacking District of Copenhagen. We offer a Latin-inspired dining experience with a focus on high-quality ingredients, fresh preparation, flavourful dishes and professional service.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and work closely with the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen.

As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen. You will participate directly in food preparation and service while helping maintain high standards for food quality, hygiene, organisation and consistency.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and cook food according to the restaurant’s recipes and quality standards

Assist the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen

Coordinate kitchen activities during preparation and service

Organise and supervise kitchen staff when required

Ensure consistent quality, taste, presentation and portion control

Assist with menu preparation and development

Prepare mise en place and ensure smooth kitchen service

Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and receiving ingredients

Minimise food waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene

Follow HACCP principles and applicable Danish food-safety requirements

Train and support kitchen employees when required

Take responsibility for kitchen operations when the Head Chef is absent

Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team

Contribute to a positive, professional and respectful working environment

We are looking for a candidate with

Professional experience as a Chef, Sous Chef or in a similar kitchen position

Strong practical cooking and food-preparation skills

Experience from a professional restaurant kitchen

Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food-safety procedures

Ability to organise kitchen work efficiently during busy services

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Good communication and organisational skills

Ability to maintain consistent quality under pressure

A professional and responsible approach to work

Experience with Latin American, Mexican or international cuisine is an advantage.

English is used as a working language in the kitchen.

Knowledge of Danish is an advantage but is not a requirement for the position.
