Sous-chef for the Gammel Skovvej Nursery

Do you want to help raise the pedagogical quality and create a single house with a shared direction?

We are looking for an experienced deputy head who wants to be close to children, staff and the pedagogical practice. It is a developing position where you will have responsibility and join a leadership team that together will set the direction for the house's continued development.

We work to create a everyday life with clear direction, good organization and a strong working community. You will become an important partner for the house's leader and you will help bring development into practice, close to everyday life and the pedagogical work in the rooms.

A smaller house in development

The nursery is centrally located in the old Kastrup close to the beach, harbour, Den Blå Planet and Kastrup Metro. We currently have 40–45 children aged 0–3 years distributed across four rooms, good common rooms and a large and varied playground. The local environment provides good opportunities for trips to, among other things, the beach, the harbour, the library and Den Blå Planet.

The nursery has two departments. The work to make the departments function as one single house – physically, organizationally and pedagogically – is well underway. The staff work both in the individual rooms and across the house, and there are good experiences and different professional competencies to build on.

Together with the leader and the staff you will help create a coherent daily routine across the house.

Your task – close to practice

Care is a fundamental part of the pedagogical work in a nursery. The youngest children need attentive and accessible adults who see their needs, create security and help them into good play relationships and children’s communities.

You must be close to the pedagogical work and have an eye for

• how the good care and relational work looks in everyday life
• whether everyday organization creates safe and recognizable frames for the children

That applies to the child’s entire day – at drop-off, during play, during meals, at bedtime and in the many transitions of everyday life.

Together with the leader and the staff you should be able to highlight what works and what needs development, so joint decisions are translated into a real difference in the children’s everyday life.

The deputy head we are seeking

You have a pedagogical education, relevant experience and a strong pedagogical expertise. You have knowledge of the 0–3 year area and can translate your knowledge into something that children and staff feel in everyday life.

You must be able to

• set requirements for quality and give clear and constructive feedback
• spot employees' strengths and support their development
• listen and make necessary decisions, even when there are differing opinions
• create an overview and follow up and support the leader
• support a strong working community and collaboration across the house

We do not expect you to have all the answers from day one. We expect you to be curious about the house and willing to take responsibility for the development together with the leader and the staff.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is to be filled by 1 December 2026.

Salary and terms of employment are determined according to the applicable collective agreement.
