About the job
Would you like to become part of a team where the child / the youth is always at the center, where the professional approach is the main element and the child / the youth's mental well-being is the highest priority? Yes, then you have indeed landed in the right place. Below you can read why it is you we specifically need in our organization that is in rapid development.
The residents at Bøge allé 3 have a permanently reduced mental function, as well as developmental disorders. The residents on the ward are currently between 8 and 18 years old. The residents have low cognition and communication is therefore supported with visual communication and a clear and recognizable structure and pedagogical approach. Bøge Allé 3 is a highly sheltered offering, where throughout the day and evening hours there will always be 5-6 staff for the 6 residents. At night there are 2 awake night shifts on the ward.
Residents occasionally display outward / self-harming behavior when challenged in their mental balance. Therefore it is important that you possess resilience and can maintain calm and overview for them. You must also be able to act in a sometimes very conflict-filled “waters”.
As an employee at the Special Center it is crucial that you have a positive outlook on life and an appreciative and caring view of humanity. You must be skilled at creating sustainable relationships with the residents who live on the ward.
We place high value on knowledge of / experience with the target group, since our residents are deeply dependent on the adults around them being able to understand and respond to their special needs.
As an educator with us it is also important that you can work independently and take responsibility for the tasks you have during your shift. Several of the residents have a permit/authorization, where you as an employee will be in a 1:1 relationship with the respective resident throughout the whole shift. You must therefore be able to work independently and to be able to work alone.
The staff work in a structured way and follow the agreements, action and development plans that are laid for each child/young person. At the same time it is important to be flexible and creative in task solving, as the residents need adults who can adapt when required.
Our expectations of you
- You are educated as a pedagogue. Experience with the target group is a plus
- You are passionate about working with residents who have disabilities
- You are curious and look beyond the behavior
- You can handle mental challenges – so that with your own mental resilience you can support the resident's emotional regulation
- You can work independently and follow individual plans and guidelines for the resident
- You are a positive and helpful colleague, and a team player who values a good working environment
- You value stable attendance and loyalty as highly as we do
- You can handle IT at user level – familiarity with Sensum Bosted is an advantage
- It would be an advantage if you have previously worked with outward-directed behavior
- You can manage conflicts and work to de-escalate conflicts on multiple parameters
During your onboarding you will have 4-5 shifts in a so-called “follow-me” arrangement, so you are thoroughly introduced to the individual residents and the house itself.
The working hours are as a rule 37 hours per week distributed between day and evening shifts, as well as fixed work every 2nd weekend. If you prefer fewer hours, this can also be accommodated.
The Special Center is a specialized Children's and Youth Home primarily for children and young people aged 0-18 years. Our residents have significantly reduced physical and/or mental functional ability.
