Special Center Bøge Allé 3 seeks skilled and engaged pedagogues

Residents at Bøge allé 3 have permanently reduced mental functioning, as well as developmental disorders. The residents in the department are currently between 8 and 18 years old. The residents have low cognition and communication is therefore supported with visual communication and a clear and recognizable structure and pedagogical approach. Bøge all 3 is a highly protected offering, where during day and evening hours there will always be 5-6 staff for the 6 residents. At night there are 2 awake night shifts in the department.

Residents occasionally display outward/self-harming behavior when challenged in their mental balance. Therefore it is important that you possess resilience and can maintain calm and an overview for them. You must also be able to act in a sometimes very conflict-ridden “waters”.

As an employee at the Special Center it is essential that you have a positive outlook on life and a respectful and caring view of people. You must be skilled at creating sustainable relationships with the residents who live on the department.

We place high importance on knowledge/experience with the target group, as our residents are deeply dependent on the adults around them being able to understand and respond to their special needs.

As an educator with us it is also important that you can work independently and take responsibility for the tasks during your shift. Several of the residents have a funding/permit, where you as an employee will be in a 1:1 relationship with the resident throughout the shift. Therefore you must be able to work independently as well as be comfortable with sole- work.

The staff work in a structured manner and follow the agreements, action- and development plans that are laid out for each child/young person. At the same time it is important to be flexible and creative in task solving, as the residents need adults who can adapt when there is a need for it.

Our expectations of you

• You are trained as a pedagogue. Experience with the target group is a plus
• You are passionate about working with residents who have functional impairments
• You are curious and look beyond the behavior
• You can handle mental challenges – so that with your own psychological resilience you can support the resident's own emotional regulation
• You can work independently and follow individual plans and guidelines for the resident
• You are a positive and helpful colleague, and a team player who values a good working environment
• You value stable attendance and loyalty as highly as we do
• You can handle IT at user level – knowledge of Sensum Bosted is an advantage
• It would be an advantage if you have previously worked with outward-facing behavior
• You can handle conflicts and work to de-escalate conflicts on several parameters

You will in your onboarding have 4-5 shifts in a so-called ”follow-along” arrangement, so you are thoroughly introduced to the individual residents and the house itself.

The working hours are as a rule 37 hours per week distributed between day and evening shifts, as well as fixed work every 2nd weekend. If you want a smaller number of hours, this can also be accommodated.

The Special Center is a specialized Children and Youth Home primarily for children and young people aged 0-18 years. Our residents have significantly reduced physical and/or mental functioning.

Salary and employment terms are set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, including the applicable provisions on local salary formation.
