About the job

Are you passionate about helping children and youths thrive and develop in positive communities? Do you want to help strengthen decision- and visitation processes, management support, and the special education practices in the school sector in Middelfart Municipality? Then you are the one we are looking for!

We are looking for an initiative-driven, structured and professionally as well as administratively strong consultant.

You will contribute to driving and developing systematic visitation processes in the school sector, participate in inspection tasks, contribute to the development and professionalisation of the entire specialised school area in Middelfart Municipality and at the same time support practical, on-site tasks with consultancy in the school sector. You will have an independent responsibility for collaborating with other municipalities on school placement, follow-up, payment, revisitation, etc.

The position should be viewed in light of increasing task pressure in the area, which overall creates a need to develop and operate the initiative, including implementing procedures, improving management information and strengthening communication to parents and partners.

About the position

The position is located in PPR (Prevention, Pedagogy and Rehabilitation), where we work purposefully to further develop inclusive learning environments and child communities while strengthening the special education area so that children and youths in need of support receive the right offer at the right time.

As a special education consultant, you will play a central role in supporting the visitation work in the school area. With a basis in concrete insight into local conditions, you will assist with preparation, coordination, case information, follow-up and quality assurance in connection with visitation and revisitation, including cases of special educational support, special schooling and relevant offers to children with special needs.

Your insight, knowledge and experience from the special education field should be applied to the municipality's supervisory tasks in treatment and special education services, including secure child welfare institutions located in Middelfart Municipality.

The position has a clearly development-focused track in addition to its operational tasks. You will help develop and professionalise workflows for authority tasks, procedures and communication in the area. This includes, for example, regarding administrative basis, procedural descriptions, templates, parent communication, collaboration with other municipalities and use of data as a basis for management information.

About tasks and collaborations

You will become part of a task solution where visitation, daily operations, implementation and ongoing development of workflows are closely linked. Together with colleagues and managers, you will play a key role in creating a more professional visitation practice, where the tasks become more transparent, familiar and meaningful for the schools. At the same time, you will have a locally, practice-oriented learning consultant role, close to our schools and special provision.

PPR is a cross-disciplinary department characterized by strong professional engagement, where prioritizing community and a good working environment ensures coherence despite a high degree of independent task solving. You will have extensive collaboration with our common secretariat as well as cross-school collaborations, with the family department and externally with other municipalities, etc.

Tasks will evolve in line with the area’s needs, and you should therefore thrive in a role where operations and development go hand in hand. At the same time, the position can, to some extent, be adapted to your competences and experience.

Your primary tasks will initially be to

  • assist with visitation processes in the school area, including preparation, coordination and follow-up on cases - in close collaboration with PPR, the common secretariat and school leadership
  • ensure the right match so that children and youths are offered relevant teaching provisions based on professional, pedagogical, legal and financial considerations
  • help to prepare and maintain administrative basis, workflows, templates and procedures for the visitation work
  • contribute with writing, systematising and professional insight in the drafting of decisions, support plans, refusals etc.
  • support collaboration with other municipalities on school and day care for placed children
  • play a decisive role in connection with the municipality’s supervisory tasks on teaching and special education tasks
  • support school leaders in questions about special pedagogical interventions, processes and workflows – also at case and group case levels
  • assist in handling and qualifying parental inquiries and complaint cases
  • support the implementation of new rules, agreements and local procedures in the area, including in relation to the national agreement on absence and special education.

We continuously strive to develop the pedagogical area in the municipal special education provisions, and you will have a significant role in planning and carrying out development activities.

We value

Your specific educational background is not decisive, but it would be an advantage if you have a relevant special educational, psychological, administrative or other related background.

The most important thing is that you can bring your municipal practical experience into play and work proactively, systematically, create an overview in complex cases and be a trustworthy partner for both managers, professionals, parents and external partners.

We expect that you

  • can see yourself in our strategy and child view
  • work systematically, structured, independently and with an eye for both details and the whole
  • are outgoing, have strong relational skills and can create trusting collaborations
  • can translate complex issues into clear workflows, notes and decision bases
  • have experience with and interest in special educational interventions, special education and inclusive learning environments
  • understand the interaction between professional assessments, legislation, economy and organisational frameworks
  • have good writing skills and can express yourself precisely and understandably
  • have a flair for data, management information and systematic follow-up
  • can work in a politically led organisation where multiple considerations must be balanced
  • have knowledge of the school and day care area, PPR or authority work, preferably from a municipality
  • thrive in a role where workflows must be developed, described and implemented while operations must run smoothly.

We offer

An exciting position with a high degree of independence and responsibility in an organisation where cooperation, holistic thinking, professional development and developmental actions for children and youths are highly valued.

You will have the opportunity to

  • work closely with an area of great importance for children, youths and families
  • contribute to strengthening quality, transparency and compliance in the special education area
  • support administration leadership and the political level with relevant knowledge, data and professional insight
  • be part of an engaged administration where tasks are solved across specialisations and organisational boundaries – no one is left to handle the task alone.
