About the job
Are you a trained pedagogue, and do you have experience working with children, possibly in a special educational context? Do you have knowledge of or are you open to parental collaboration? And can you collaborate humbly and respectfully with the parents? Then you might be exactly the colleague we are looking for!
Special kindergarten Solsikken in Aarup is seeking an engaged and competent pedagogue who, grounded in the children’s individual needs and action plans, can help create meaningful learning environments and inclusive communities. We are looking for a colleague who can combine structure with flexibility, and who, with professional reflection and collaboration skills, can help further develop our specialized offering.
The position is 37 hours per week, and it is a maternity cover expected to last about 1 year, with start on December 1, 2026.
About the job At Solsikken, the most important prerequisites are that you wish to develop yourself and your practice as you meet new challenges and acquire new knowledge. At Solsikken we focus on our own nervous system and stance, and the work calls for good empathy and collaboration skills. We prioritise playful interaction in the presence of the children.
The position is for both someone who has experience and wants to switch field, and someone who is newly qualified or about to be, perhaps having had a glimpse of the special education field during practicum. Our legal basis includes the Child Act §§ 82-83 as well as the Daycare Act and the strengthened pedagogical curriculum.
The opening hours at Solsikken are 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Department meetings occur about once a month until 6:30 p.m.
Who are we Our values are 'joy, diversity and development', and we work to ensure that these shine through with parents, children and the staff group.
Solsikken is located in the Møllebakken Children's House, which houses the Solsikken special kindergarten with 22 children aged 0-6 years with physical and/or mental developmental disabilities, and the Solstrålen nursery with 30 children. The Møllebakken Children’s House is part of the Aarup area’s district institution Dagtilbuddene, which also includes 2 kindergarten groups and the nursery in Aarup. Solsikken is an integrated part of the district institution with cross-department cooperation and participation in two annual joint meetings, a pedagogical day and a staff party.
It is easy to get to and from Aarup by car, bus or train, since Møllebakken is within walking distance of the stop and the train station.
At Solsikken we establish kindergarten life with community and learning based on the individual action plans of the children. the children have very different needs, and we support development with a recognizable daily life and many good experiences in the children’s community. The staff is multidisciplinary, so in addition to pedagogues, there are two occupational therapists and a physiotherapist employed. There is an opportunity for internal and external sparring with a supervisor and the Solsikken team from PPR.
Solsikken has very good facilities with a new extension built specifically to reduce disturbances and create an overview of the framework. In addition, we have a challenging playground, warm water pool, bright and cozy rooms, and our own minibus. We use the local area with forests, a river and shops for weekly excursions.
The target group for Solsikken is very diverse, including children with psychosocial difficulties and children with reduced physical and/or mental functioning, as well as pervasive developmental disorders within the autism spectrum. Our children are divided into four very different groups, taking into account each child’s needs and abilities. We place great emphasis on what the child community can offer the individual, and what the individual can contribute to the community. We have the possibility of close collaboration with the mainstream kindergarten when it makes sense.
We place a high emphasis on professionalism and quality, and we are aware that we must continuously develop practice together to meet the children’s needs.
