About the job

The Public Prosecution Service of the South- and Southwest Jutland Police is seeking a senior- or special-prosecutor who would like to specialize in organized crime with a focus on forward-looking investigations in the Criminal Prosecution Office (special cases).

The position is to be filled on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will have the opportunity to combine the subject area with, for example, larger cases involving violent crime.

About the position

As a special prosecutor with responsibility for organized crime, you will work closely with the Central Investigation Department in the circuit to combat organized gang- and narcotics-crime through both reactive and forward-looking investigations.

In daily work, you will therefore participate as an active sparring partner during the investigations, where you contribute with legal advice and knowledge, including regarding targeting of the investigation, intervention possibilities, tailoring of cases, etc., so that the resources of the police and the Public Prosecution Service are used in the best possible way. You are also responsible for ensuring quality and legality in daily cooperation with the police.

You

You are a trained lawyer (cand.jur.).

The position will primarily be relevant for lawyers who have a solid background in the Public Prosecution Service and have completed the Public Prosecution Service’s basic training and rotation program. It is also an advantage that you have worked with interventions, but most importantly you have an interest in the area and the ability to enter a new field of law.

In addition, we imagine that you

  • are able to work in depth within the specialized area and thereby contribute to the development of the office and the organization
  • have a secure eye for quality and legality assurance
  • can make decisions that promote efficiency and the quality of case processing
  • can be a key role model and sparring partner – both internally in the Public Prosecution Service and in cooperation with the police and external parties
  • take pride in contributing with professional competencies and a holistic view to the development of prosecutors' power and prosecutors through sparring and guidance.

Us

The Public Prosecution Service of the South- and Southwest Jutland Police consists of about 85 staff, of whom about 50 are lawyers and police prosecutors spread across three offices. We are organized in a joint criminal office that handles both general and special cases, the Office of Quality, Legality and Development, as well as the Office for UKA West. The Office for UKA West is the contact point for the Foreigners Control Department West, which handles border operations and the national monitoring responsibility in several areas.

The Public Prosecution Service is located at the police station in Esbjerg, and the prosecutors appear in the district courts in Esbjerg and Sønderborg, and occasionally at biting sites in Haderslev and Tønder. We have a good circuit of police prosecutors who handle most of the general fine-claim cases.

In our police district we are very aware that the justice system daily takes on tasks of great social and individual significance.

We therefore place the citizen at the center of our task solving. We often go the extra mile to ensure that we have the citizen with us in the process – and focus on how our own culture affects our reputation and the citizen’s experience of us.

We, in close collaboration with other actors in the criminal justice chain, have a strong focus on resolving criminal cases as quickly as possible and with high quality. It is a difficult task, but it is important that you share that focus with us and contribute constructively to the development of the entire criminal justice chain.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be wage-classified as a senior adviser under the State Memoranda for Academics, unless you are already a civil servant. Classification in the base wage range including pension and any allowances is negotiated individually. You will also become part of the Public Prosecution Service’s on-call scheme.

Given the weight of the position, the onboarding for candidates with high experience and competence may be placed in the base wage range for chief consultants. In addition, the position will be linked to a local allowance of DKK 43,500 annually in the March 2012 base amount – currently corresponding to DKK 54,337 annually for senior- and special-prosecutors. The location allowance is provisionally negotiated until the end of January 2029.

The employment area of the position is the Ministry of Justice with its associated institutions. If you are already employed in the Ministry of Justice’s employment area, a transfer to the position will be a rearrangement within the area.

Your workplace will be Kirkegade 76 in Esbjerg, but you have the option to use a workplace at our police stations, e.g., in Vejen, Haderslev or Aabenraa. You may also, if desired, arrange a high degree of flexibility in the position, e.g., a 4-day workweek or weekly work-from-home days.

You must be able to obtain security clearance to the necessary level for the position – normally at the Confidential classification. You may be required to perform functions where higher security clearance is necessary. Employment in the police and the Public Prosecution Service is conditional on your ability to maintain the required security clearance at all times.
