About the job

Would you like to be part of creating the conditions for our geriatric specialist service? Region Zealand is strengthening the geriatric service, and we have received resources to expand our physician staff at Midt- and Vestsjællands Hospital in Slagelse. We are seeking specialist physicians in geriatrics who will have a strong influence, high professional competence, and a daily life characterized by pioneering spirit.

Why should you choose us?

  • Put your own stamp on it: You will take up a newly established position where you gain direct influence over the development of geriatrics across the hospital and in the outpatient department.
  • Strong interdisciplinary setup: We value close collaboration between different specialties. You will become an important part of everything from orthogeriatrics to our interdisciplinary memory clinic.
  • Education in focus: You will play a central role in shaping and guiding the next generation of doctors (doctors under HU, KBU and introduction).
  • Flexibility and influence: We tailor your tasks in the outpatient department and memory clinic according to your competencies and professional interests.

Your profile

You are a specialist in internal medicine: geriatrics – either newly qualified with a fresh perspective or an experienced physician seeking new challenges.

We believe that you

  • are passionate about raising the quality and patient safety for older medical patients
  • enjoy working in an interdisciplinary environment with short decision-making paths
  • have decisiveness, are communicative and place great emphasis on a good working environment with collegial collaboration.

Daily life and tasks

You will become part of a well-functioning department (Medicine 3) with 43 beds distributed across two sections with their own focus (broad general geriatrics and orthogeriatrics).

Your main tasks will be

  • rounds and close supervision of our younger doctors
  • geriatric on-call during daytime and participation in the medical on-call service (24-hour on-call)
  • outpatient and fall risk assessment and the possibility to work at the memory clinic (in collaboration with neurologists, neuropsychologists and psychiatrists).
  • geriatric monitoring function covering all departments at the hospital.

About the team

You will become part of a dedicated team consisting of two consultants, one UAO, three consultants and three specialist physicians, as well as a strong educational environment. We have a close and dynamic collaboration with the neurology department as well as the physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments, where professional exchange is a natural part of daily life.

Help with relocation and teaching in Danish

If you want to move to Denmark in connection with the employment, we offer free, professional help with relocation and settlement near the hospital or possibly in Copenhagen. You will receive help with everything from finding housing to registration and any accompanying family members.

An important part of the work as a specialist is the communication between doctor and patient. For patient safety, Region Zealand requires our specialist physicians to have Danish language skills at a satisfactory level. We therefore provide a language teacher for private lessons so that you can communicate with your patients as quickly as possible at a level where you understand each other.

This means that we expect you to be prepared to spend time learning Danish, both spoken and written.
