About the job
Our skilled SPU (Special Psychologist Unit) is soon finishing their clinical psychology education and has chosen to continue in another position. They have enjoyed both patient work and collaboration with colleagues here.
We are therefore seeking a special psychologist who wants to work with debut psychosis and take a central role in assessment, treatment, and professional sparring in OPUS West.
The position is ideal for you if you are interested in the schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders and thrive with diagnostic complexity, outpatient patient pathways, and close interdisciplinary collaboration. You will become part of an experienced team where psychological expertise is actively included in both clinical assessments and the development of treatment.
About OPUS and OPUS West
OPUS is an evidence-based treatment program for young people aged 18–35 years with debut psychosis. The treatment is intensive, outpatient, and planned as a up to two-year course focusing on early intervention, recovery, systematic assessment and treatment, and involvement of relatives and relevant partners.
In OPUS we work with both the symptoms and the life affected by the illness: education, work, relationships, and family life. We follow the patients over time and plan the treatment in close collaboration with them and their relatives.
OPUS West has developed significantly over the last two years. The team has grown, and we have worked purposefully with shared professional practice, quality, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
We have about 250 patients and OPUS clinicians in Holbæk, Slagelse, Ringsted, Kalundborg, and Nykøbing Sjælland. The main campuses are Holbæk and Slagelse. We collaborate closely with the Competence Center for Debut Psychosis in Roskilde.
Face-to-face work can take place in Slagelse or Holbæk by arrangement, with the need to attend the other main campus as agreed.
About the team and the role of the special psychologist
You will be part of a team with specialists in psychiatry, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and secretaries. The team has joint leadership by the Chief Physician and the Chief Nurse.
We use each other in daily work. Diagnostic and treatment-related issues are discussed continuously, and different professional perspectives contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the patient’s difficulties, resources, and needs.
Assessment is a joint task for the team’s doctors and psychologists. As a special psychologist you will contribute with diagnostic, cognitive, and social-cognitive assessment and translating the results into further treatment.
You will participate in intake and treatment conferences and be a professional sparring partner for colleagues in the assessment of both new referrals and ongoing cases. In addition, there is the possibility of some individual therapy sessions as well as participation in group treatment and involvement of relatives.
Your tasks
- Diagnostic, cognitive and social-cognitive assessment as well as diagnostic clarification processes.
- Initial interviews with newly referred patients and participation in intake and treatment conferences.
- Ongoing clinical sparring with the team’s therapists and doctors.
- Some individual therapy sessions, relative interviews, and collaboration with cross-sector partners.
- Psychoeducation for patients and relatives and group programs and social skills training together with OPUS colleagues.
- Teaching, professional knowledge sharing, and contribution to the continued development of OPUS West.
We are looking for a colleague who
- Is a special psychologist and has an interest in treating young people with psychotic disorders.
- Has clinical experience from psychiatry and can prioritize and delineate assessment based on the concrete clinical issue and the patient’s treatment needs.
- Thrives with close interdisciplinary collaboration and is eager to share knowledge and contribute to colleagues’ professional development.
- Wants to help further develop the treatment and contribute to good cooperation within the team.
Professional development and collegial community
With us you get specialized clinical work with opportunities for both professional deepening and influence on practice. We work according to a structured and well-documented treatment concept, but there is also room to develop workflows and supplementary treatment options.
We prioritize shared professional development through, among other things, national OPUS days, internal and external professional lectures, and team days. There is also an opportunity for competence development through the Competence Center for Debut Psychosis.
You will also be part of the larger psychological professional environment in Psychiatry West with the possibility of monodisciplinary sparring. In the OPUS team you have medical and other cross-disciplinary colleagues close by, so complex clinical issues can be discussed from several perspectives.
We emphasize a good collaborative climate where you can ask questions, be uncertain, and contribute with your professionalism.
Salary and employment terms
The position is 37 hours per week during daytime.
The position falls under Academics. A reference check is performed as part of the recruitment in Psychiatry.
Start date : January 1, 2027 or by agreement.
Recruitment interviews : November 24, 2026
