About the job

Would you like to be part of a professionally strong team where relationships, collaboration and residents' perspectives are at the center?

After many years of committed and skilled effort, one of our valued colleagues is retiring. Therefore SPUC is seeking a clear, competent and motivated social educator for a 34-hour position at one of our 24-hour facilities.

You will become part of an experienced team with high professional standards and colleagues who have worked together for many years. We place emphasis on professional reflection, good collaboration, good collegiality and a shared responsibility for creating the best possible framework for residents' lives.

We work as a team around the clock or a 24-hour cycle. We do this because we believe continuity and time together are very important for the residents. The longer shifts allow for presence, coherence and fewer changes in relationships. Working hours are mainly organized in periods of 13 and 24 hours, including sleeping on-call at night, as well as work every other weekend.

In the coming years we will implement LA2U as a common method. Therefore we expect you to be curious about LA2U and interested in the residents' inside perspective – and to want to help develop our joint professional practice.

Can you say YES to the following?

  • You are a professionally grounded educator and have your core values solidly anchored in your professional practice.
  • You have the ability to collaborate and regard collaboration as an important professional skill.
  • You have knowledge of – or interest in – working with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • You are curious about LA2U and want to actively contribute to the development of our shared professional practice.
  • You are concerned with the residents' inside perspective and letting their wishes, experiences and resources guide the pedagogical efforts.
  • You want to take the initiative to initiate pedagogical activities based on the residents' wishes, interests, resources and needs.
  • You are stable and reliable in your attendance and see continuity as an important prerequisite for the residents' security and for the good collaboration.
  • You have good IT skills and see documentation as a natural and important part of the pedagogical work.
  • You want to share knowledge, professional reflections, challenges and successes with your colleagues.
  • You thrive in a work organization where you work in 13- and 24-hour blocks with sleeping on-call at night and every other weekend.

We offer

  • A workplace with a strong shared value base.
  • A workplace where we show respect for the individual resident and for each other in both words and actions.
  • A professional environment where we base our work on residents' resources and use the residents' inside perspective as a guideline for our professional efforts.
  • A workplace where good communication and strong relationships between residents, staff and management are prioritized.
  • A workplace community where we pull together and where everyone participates in the various tasks. This includes scheduling, the house's traditions, counseling and guidance as well as personal care and practical support in the residents' daily lives.
  • External supervision and opportunities for skills development.

Here live 10 adults with developmental disabilities who need social-pedagogical support, compensation, help and guidance in many aspects of life.

Our task is to support each resident in living as independent, meaningful and good a life as possible – with respect for each individual's wishes, resources and perspective.
