Support an active and smiling man in Roskilde

Do you have experience with people with intellectual disabilities? And can you create calm and clear boundaries around activities and social interaction?

About the task

You will spend time with a 30-year-old man with Down syndrome. He is friendly and smiling and loves being active. He communicates nonverbally through signs and sounds and therefore needs clear communication and support.

Your task is to create good and active moments together with him based on his interests. He enjoys, among other things, walks, cycling, swimming and bowling, and you should take initiative and support him in getting started with the activities.

He thrives with a calm and clear approach. If he feels pressured or misunderstood, he can become stuck, and here it is important that you give him time, are clear and help him find calm.

There may also be a need for light support and guidance in connection with personal care and dressing.

About you

You may be a trained pedagogue or unskilled with relevant experience, preferably within intellectual disabilities or a similar target group.

You take the initiative for activities and at the same time meet the man with a calm and welcoming approach. You are good at reading nonverbal communication and adapting your support to his signals and needs.

If you are a trained pedagogue, you can be paid accordingly.

Working hours

The position is 24 hours per month on weekdays plus a 9-hour shift on one Saturday per month.

On weekdays you can choose between

• One shift per week from 16:00–22:00
• Two shifts per week from 16:00–19:00

Weekday shifts can be scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday and/or Friday, and the concrete days are agreed with the family.

You will become part of a family-owned company with many dedicated employees. You have a fixed advisor whom you can always consult. Outside office hours there is always a staffed duty phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension according to the National Agreement for Handicap Assistance in the citizen's own home (minus BPA) entered into between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and occupational accident insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.

You will receive relevant introduction and ongoing upskilling - and you cannot avoid developing yourself both personally and professionally when you work with people with us at DUOS.
