About the job

Are you passionate about film and film dissemination – and good at writing? Then this might be the student job for you. As a student assistant in the Cinemateket program editorial team, you contribute to developing, coordinating and communicating Cinemateket’s diverse film program. You will have a varied daily life with editorial, communicative and practical tasks and the opportunity to contribute with your own ideas.

About us

Cinemateket is part of the Danish Film Institute, and every month there are more than 100 film screenings in the cinemas on Gothersgade in Copenhagen: premieres, classics, festival highlights, cult films and documentaries – for both connoisseurs and the curious.

Cinemateket’s offers also include Filmtaget with the film museum, rooftop terrace and open-air cinema, where Cinemateket is responsible for the film program. A portion of the program is shown there in Cinemateket’s branches in Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and Kolding, and there are also Cinemateket screenings as well as open-air events across the country.

The position

We are seeking a student assistant who would like to become part of the program editorial team and contribute broadly to the work of developing, coordinating and disseminating our film program.

You will come close to the daily editorial process and have a varied role with editorial, communicative, administrative and practical tasks. There will be both routine tasks and the possibility to participate in developing new initiatives.

You will, among other things, be able to

  • work with film data and texts for our program, including data entry and proofreading.
  • assist with outreach and dissemination around screenings, including contact with relevant partners and audiences across channels.
  • support ongoing planning and operations with administrative and practical tasks, e.g. journaling, creating ticket links and bookings in the editorial systems
  • get the opportunity to contribute your own ideas for film series and events and help take them from idea to meeting with the audience.

About you

We imagine that you are interested in film and cultural communication, and that you are studying at a higher education level – preferably with some time left of your studies so you have the opportunity to be part of our team for a longer period. It is a requirement that you are enrolled and an active student in a higher education program.

You do not need to know the entire history of film by heart. The most important is that you are curious about film, want to learn more and are interested in how film can be communicated to different audiences.

We also place emphasis on the following

  • work independently, efficiently and responsibly
  • write clearly and professionally in Danish and have an eye for linguistic details
  • be comfortable with IT and eager to get familiar with new systems and databases

Experience with text editing, communication, databases or similar is an advantage, but not a requirement.

You will become part of a lively film environment with broad contacts across the Danish Film Institute and Cinemateket.

Employment terms

Salary and terms of employment are according to the joint agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees’ Organisations – The Civil Service and the agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT workers (HK).

Your working time will be on average 15 hours per week and scheduled with regard to your classes and exams.
